[Resolved]  Bata India — Refund of 999 Rs.

Order number AI[protected]. I went to a Bata store and ordered a shoe of 999 Rs from there on 23 July, got it delivered on 27 July. Returned it on 08 August and shared Bank account details for getting refund.

They told me to wait 3-5 days, so I again called on 13 August. I was told the same again. Again called on 18 August. They said 48 hrs then.

On 20 August I called twice. First time, a woman said the refund was initiated yesterday but she then sent me their usual system-generated mail that "I have made a note of the concern raised by you. You may be rest assured, I will get the same resolved for you in maximum of next 4 to 5 working days", the same as the ones they have sent me after every call the past days.

Then I called again and a man first said refund was initiated, then said he's raised a concern and refund will be initiated in 4-5 days. I told him that they are all liars and I'll go to the police. He kept saying the same thing.
They don't respond to email.

The store manager is no good either. He is also not cooperating. He says he'll call and ask but never does. I'm feeling hopeless.

I've recorded every call and I'm thinking of going to the police. This is pure fraud case. Happened to a lot of people, I can see on Google.

Attached the last mail the first woman sent me. The format is same for all mails, they have been sending it to me after every call.

24 August - Finally I got a message with link of Payu to get the refund. I went to the link and it required me to put my bank account or ipo details to get the refund. So, Bata customer support took my bank details for nothing, just for show. If they cared they would initiate the refund themselves in the shared Bank account. They didn't mail me anything or call me . Instead I initiated refund by putting my upi in the Payu link and today 26 August I have finally received the refund of 999. I don't know if this is because I posted it here or the manager insisted more, but I know this, I'm never buying anything from Bata again.
Bata India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.

The store manager called me an hour later and told me that he had talked with customer support too and he was informed that several refunds were held and they initiated all of those yesterday. So, I have to wait another 4-5 days. I took that with a grain of salt. When I told the manager that the customer support have been lying to me and I caught them red-handed on my last call, he said "whatever the customer support told you verbally doesn't matter, the emails they have sent you matter. Bata does their customer support through a 3rd party company, and so, the company is doing this". The manager is another manipulative businessman, it turns out. I have learnt from this experience to never shop from their stores or website ever again.

22 August - Visited the store. The manager first said "I told you to wait 5 days" in such way as if I was doing something utterly inappropriate. He then said that the company mailed him asking why the customer returned the shoes. He showed it to me too. Then my 1st question was I had already told them that with photos on mail on 8 August. Why are they asking now and even that to you but not me, the customer? He neglected it. Then I asked is that why they are delaying the refund?? He neglected that too.

I told him what I told the customer support through mail, the outer sole is poor, it's not worth 999 Rs. Then the manager started saying that I was talking rubbish, that I have no right to complain about the sole. I tried to tell him that a customer has the right to complain about anything if they don't like it. No matter whatever reason the customer returns a product, the company must refund the money since the return was already accepted and the product was already picked up 2 weeks ago. He kept telling the same thing that I was talking rubbish.

Even raising your voice and arguing doesn't help if the customer care and manager are together trying to rob your money and doesn't want to hear any complain about each other.

I called customer support again on 22 August an hour after visiting the store. Same thing again, told me to wait 3-5 days. "We have initiated your refund". I asked "if you initiated it now, why were you delaying it for 2 weeks?" No answer, he kept telling the same thing, "the refund will be credited in 3-5 days". I roasted him some and the person said, "Talk professionally." I told him, "you go to hell, may your company goes to hell too" and hung up. They're continuously lying about it and saying the same thing on phone and on mail like a broken record. And the manager keeps inventing new tactics to confront me every time I visit the store.
