That girl is still proudto be in school cause she knows that her guardians are beside her no matter want. St. Pauls School — Demand for teachers salary

Dear Principal Ma'm,

My daughter is studying in your school.

Recently we got the letter from the school to fork out an adddl. 10, 000/-(approx) towards the teachers salary hike.

In this context, I would like to mention the foll:
How are we, parents, related to the teachers salaries? Do we pay salaries to teachers or school does !!! If we have to pay the salaries, then we shall employee teachers and pay them. We might not require school(s) to extract a margin on the teacher salaries. Related to this, also involved RTI act, in which we ASK for the salary paid to the teachers - primary and TGT; how much is the hike given every year, and in last year on actual; how many permamenet teachers are in school. How many teachers have left since 2006, how many have joined after 2006 and on what scale? How you have calculated the figure of Rs. 10, 000/-(approx) to be paid per student? What, if tomorrow, you ask for another 1L !!!
Why should we pay from 2006 !!! During that period, my daughter was not at all in your school? Why should I pay for that thing (product/service) which I have not realised.
What abt those students who have already passed out... Why shd we be burdened in place of them.
The matter is sub-judice and in between asking for the adhoc fees is il-legal. This amounts to contempt of court
I would again like to draw your attention that the amount asked is too much, and beyond my scope to pay.
None of the schools in Delhi/NCR have asked for such fees from parents ( Though the matter for fees hike is going on)
I request the school administration to find out the way to resolve the crisis instead of asking for the adhoic fees from parents
Attached is the order from the Govt of NCT of Delhi. They have even capped the maximum limit of hike. It is clearly mentioned the maximum amount of fees hike, the schools can ask from parents.

School — St. Joseph's Convent, Chittaranjan, W.B., Sucking Students and Spoiling their Careers for Years

As a guardian of a student and ex-teacher of St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Chittaranjan, I want to highlight some (better to say all) bogus systems and rotten-infrastructure of this school. First of all it is better to clarify that I was appointed as a contract teacher for the school in the month of January, 2009 and kicked out in March 2009, my fault was that I am an M.Sc(Tech) and in the eyes of the school administration my answer script checking was not up to the level as their 10th standard pass teachers are doing the same job from last 5 years. The present principal Sister Teresa Martis B.S. is a woman who knows some of the terms of physics and/or mathematics up to class 2 standard and cannot open her email account, administrating a higher secondary school. Maximum of the teachers are undergraduate and a few may be 2 or 3 among total 70 are post graduate who are teaching rather spoiling the careers of 12th standard students. As there is no option for non-Railway public residing in Chittaranjan, so they are compelled to admit their candidate to this 3rd class school at the cost of money. Again the problem arises here during the admission of the new session April’ 2009. The monthly fees are hiked from RS 560/- P.M. to RS 1350/- P.M. without prior information before admission.
This is not the end. School administration claims this hike in fees is due to the new pay commission act by Government, but does it implies that the fees of a K.G-1 student and a 12th standard student will become same. Yes, the fees from K.G.-1 to Class 12th is same and it is RS 1350/- P.M. Calculation says the total income of the school is (RS 1350/- X 1300 students) = RS 17, 55, 000/- whereas the average salary ( as per their new notification) range is RS 8000/- (contract teachers) to RS 18000/- ( permanent teachers) P.M. and the school has 21 permanent teachers 49 contract teachers and 11 non-teaching stuffs. If the average salary is taken 12000/- P.M. for all teaching and non-teaching stuffs then total monthly expenditure as payment is (RS 12000/- X 81 stuffs) = RS 9, 72, 000/- (taking the highest possible value) and let us take other expenditure is RS 2, 00, 000 P.M. (the maximum possible for a school where K.G. class rooms are having Asbestos roofs), hence the total expenditure becomes RS 11, 72, 000/- P.M. then the rest (RS 17, 55, 000 – RS 11, 72, 000) = RS 5, 83, 000 is going to whose pocket? The respected General Manager of Chittaranjan says he has nothing to do in this regard as this school is under Christian Jurisdiction or whatever even the S.D.O. asked principle for negotiation (under the pressure of guardians) and Teresa says it is the father who can decide, the father says it is the Bishop who can take decision and the Bishop says the Holy Father …. And so on father of fathers, ultimately The God can take the decision.

I totally agree with you. Being an ex student of that school I know what goes on there. I studied there three years and was lucky enough to clear my ICSE with good grades. The schools teaching staff are mostly under qualified as the management don't want to spend on qualified teachers.
TERESSA, ( if this is the same one I remember from 1981- 84) does she still have well manicured finger nails? She was more into fashion than God.

With one of the most out dated staff, time wasting useless activities, this administration has spared no means to degrade the system of studies existing earlier.insulting the parents verbally over the intercom has become a regular routine in the school. class 10 studies were seriously disturbed this year mostly due to endless and good-for-nothing activities.

ya, the present condition as you have said is true, as i have heard from many others. Being a x-student of the school it feels bad to hear about my school, but the problems are genuine; the conditions were not so bad 10-11 years back, when i passed my boards, although similar problems did exist. Regarding Staff i would say, my and adjoining batches were really lucky to have got taught from some really good teachers if not all. Outside tutions were not necessary at that time, although i had one. The co curricular activities at that time were really worth participating, aside from the pressure of studies. But now i feel things are reaching extremes and some thing s got to be done.

well the school has always had complaints for excessive fees. but mark my words, shift this school to any metro and the fees wouldn't be less than 5000 a month. i am an ex-student of this school (class of 2003) and i can only hope i can send my children to a school of this calibre. we had awesome teachers, people who loved their jobs and not teach for namesake.

really I appreciated those person who had written the truth in this column. St.joseph's present principal is good person by heart but her ears are weak. Some bad character teacher have always input wrong data infront of her, some times she ignored them and sometime she listened to them, but she sometime do/did injustice with the teacher/student. The main profession of this school teachers r buttering, in-front of principal "u r a great person " behind her says "third class sister I have ever seen in this school". It is so disheartening that the teaching standard of St Joseph Convent HS School, Chittaranjan degrading day by day...its looks like a money making organisation now a days...may be this for inadequate, improper Infrastructure, management, teachers and staffs. It is my request to the management that, please improve the teaching quality... teach the students the reality of life...teach them how to save the earth...and stop show business. Try to understand why the parents are sending their children to the school...please stop money making show business.

Treasa Martis has shown Rs 7+ crores of expenditure towards rebuilding the school building out of which Rs 3+ crores must have gone into her pocket. She keeps saying please don't cheat me in the name of god, however she herself has cheated the catholic church as the school belongs to the church and not Bethany society.

Finally the new principal is here and she is correcting the wrongs done by St. Teresa Devil. The new principal has ordered and given all untrained teachers 2 years to get themselves trained cause she does not want her school to close down. St Teresa Devil use to show certificates of people who don't even belong to the school when there is a checking of teachers. This is the kind of DEVIL the parents and students were facing for 4 years. She robed the school crores of rupees in the name of construction.

ya this is the 100% fact about this school...as being an ex-student of this school i totally agree with you...they have extacted such a huge amount of money from our parents that even the supporting nd the cleaning staff has the most newest brand of bikes...i have many complains toward sister teresa but have more complains towards the teaching staff whose was always partial to some of the students...thats it well the principal now has changed so lets see how is she going to change the fate of her school

Also... you must've overlooked the mammoth transformation of the Hindi Convent School, which hardly anyone knew about, into a CBSE affiliated English Medium Senior Secondary School under its own Principal!... which... I'd say... is no small task...
Coming to the other areas of the school's infrastructure... The Air Conditioned Auditorium (balcony included) is as good as that of any reputed school in Calcutta... Don't believe? See it for yourself!

Chittaranjan is a small town with a large number of narrow minded "conventionally wise" people.. (not all though...).. and... We were just unable to digest the revolutionary changes Sr. Martis brought!

It didn't affect her... She's doing well...In fact.. better, now, where she is!
Ultimately, it were we who made a fool out of ourselves...

Madam Banani left the school, frustrated with the post Sr. Teresa Administration and got appointed as the Principal of a reputed school in Asansol... not by showing off her saree... but by her 17 years of teaching experience and an M. Sc degree in Geography, which is a bloody difficult subject to get a bachelor's degree in... forget Masters!
Now.. The school is practically WITHOUT a Geography Teacher... and... believe me... even in reputed schools... you won't find more than 2 M.Sc Geography teachers in the Faculty! People don't usually pursue a Geography degree due to its level of difficulty... Ask any ISC/Arts student from any school anywhere and you'll find that out! And... We lost the one that we had...
Next up... Miss (later Mrs.) Chhanda Ganguly, THE BEST Physics Teacher, resignes... not during... but after Sr. Teresa leaves and Sr. Shwetha comes!
Two pillars gone... The school now appears to be stumbling... With no one to replace them...

Next up... let's talk about the library.. and I can say this without being biased (there's no reason for me to be as I'm not a present pupil, nor a teacher, nor a benefactor, nor a member of St. Joseph's Church, nor any one associated with the school anymore, so it may be assured that my intention is not to butter anyone, since my "buttering" will not affect anyone) that St. Joseph's has the best collection of fiction and non fiction in the belt. ... (and I say this with experience), renovated and enriched under Sr. Teresa Martis...

So... before we slander her... I think it's best to weigh her achievements against her shortcomings and then view things with impartiality!

Our daughter, Muktika Das, Admission number 5425, class IX, was a student in your school at the Bangalore, Kundanahalli branch. I just got transferred to Delhi.
When we approached Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, they said they don’t have any internal notice/ knowledge about her transfer so there's no seat.
Let me bring to your notice, Muktika has been a Ryanite since Montessori, Ryan International School, Rohini, Delhi. In 2000, I took a job in Bangalore. She got a seat in Ryan International School, Kundanahalli. I was transferred back to Delhi. She got admitted in Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj by just producing a Transfer Certificate.
Again, I was sent to Bangalore to head the creative department of McCann Erickson in May 2008. I got a TC from Vasant Kunj and got her admitted at the Ryan Kundanahalli branch.
At present, I am back again in Delhi. But this time, she is being denied a seat. Due to Commonwealth games, the classes have already started before schedule. We are not able to get her admitted in any other school. I am really surprised at the way her school has treated this matter. They told me here, if the Principal of her Bangalore school informs the Principal of Delhi Vasant Kunj, then they’ll take action.
She is undergoing major stress fearing of losing a year.
Sir, I’m requesting you to get her back to her Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj.

My wife had gone to Ryan Kundanahalli branch to submit the application addressed to ‘The Principal’, also she wrote Ryan Vasant Kunj in the application when she was asked where we wanted her to be admitted again. My wife clarified whether a fresh application was required or not for which she was told it wasn’t necessary. When we went to the Vasant Kunj, they said they weren’t aware of this. Somehow, the Mumbai office wasn’t notified about this case.

The Principal called up when we had mailed him previously saying we didn’t hand him the letter personally and that why did we apply for caution money. But none of the office people told us it’s not required when they very well knew that we are seeking internal transfer. When a letter is addressed to him, it is the job of the office people to hand him over anything that’s addressed to him. Also, every time we got her transferred, the caution money was reimbursed. We meet the principals of Vasant Kunj and Kundanahalli.

Tell me sir, is this the way an institution with such stature behaves? Specially, when a child’s future is hanging precariously.

I earnestly request you to make arrangements for her admission at Ryan Vasant Kunj branch, Delhi.
