Canon India — Petty Customer service and charging for objects under warranty.

Hi Team,

Recently I had visited Canon Master Service Centre in Andheri, Mumbai for basic cleaning and stuffs of my camera & lenses. The device is under warranty as per https://service.canon.co.in/service-edge/listCanonEdgeProductDetails.do website till[protected]. When said the same the representative asked me to share the invoice and warranty card for the same which I said will mail them. They said the DSLR EOS 200D body will be covered under warranty and the other lenses will not be. It had some fungus so had asked them do some basic cleaning which they said will be charged. I agreed at that time. After submitting the device I came back and mailed them the invoice and warranty card. They responded back saying this will not be covered under warranty since the purchase date is of Dec 2018 and 2 year warranty will be valid till Dec 2020. If that was so then why would they show me the warranty end date of[protected]? Also when i visited the center today for pickup of the device. They stated that I am late and will have to come back next day. The timing of the center is from 10-3 and we follow only what's written. If this was the case then why are they not following what is written in their website of my device warranty and why are they charging. During this Covid time I had to travel 44+ kms from Kalyan to Andheri. I reached their center at 3.40 and they were still working but they were not giving the device stating working hours are from 10am -3 pm. I had tried contacting them on the number given in their email signature. One of them was not in service and another was some other residential number. The lady was angry over repeated calls for canon been redirected to them. I tried to convince Service center team a lot stating that I travelled so long for just to collect them and still to my dismay they were stubborn and said we follow what's documented. So in this case the documented proof is that my DSLR is valid till[protected] so will want the whole service to be done free of charge. Also the way a customer is treated is not valid and would request them to bare the travel expenses I had to do.
