Transaction successful but appointment not issued

On 6th Feb 2017, i tried to book an online appointment for my Son Oliver Solomon Boggarapu with Doctor Sumita Danda (Genetic Medicine). However, due to some error the amount Rs. 550/- was deducted from my bank account but appointment was not given.

Address: Vellore, Tamil Nadu

This is a formal complaint regarding a hospital billing discrepancy at Christian medical College, Vellore. Tamil Nadu. (Bill no.-E920971). I am from west bengal, went there for my mother's check up, who is the patient named, Rebati Ghosh, Hospital No. 065723F. She was checked by the Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Unit 2 department, under a doctor named Minakshi Kumari. After multiple investigations the doctor suggested hysteroscopic polypectomy, thereafter the patient was admitted on 31st March in the G4W ward, the same day morning they took an advance of Rs.30, 000/- in the morning.
The same evening they asked to bring medicines of Rs.3705.47/- . Next morning, on 1st April, the operation took place, post operation, in the afternoon, they asked to bring another box of medicines of Rs.2669.40/-. Before discharge in the evening, the nurse told us to return the excess medicines that were not used in the pharmacy, and the medicines returned was of Rs. 3690/-. But the pharmacy refused to give us any refund or proof of the number of medicine that was returned, in fact nothing was given to us. Their saying is whatever medicines will be returned they will adjust with the final billing. This is a trick they are applying to all the patients so that nothing they need to refund and they can increase the final bill easily.

Then while discharged, the discharge bill was of Rs. 51, 166/-, which included the wrong charges of laparoscopy that took 2 times each 10, 000. After clarifying at the billing counter they have cut only one charge of laparoscopy of Rs.10, 000/-.
But they're still charging the other charges of laparoscopy of Rs. 10, 000/- in the new bill, the new bill total stands at Rs. 41166/-.

The patient has gone through the operation of hysteroscopic polypectomy, and no laparoscopy was done, yet they are charging 10, 000/- for laparoscopy which was not even part of the treatment nor it has been done.

After questioning, they claim that it was Hysteroscopy charges, but, Hysteroscopy charges as taken earlier by the hospital during investigation of the patient was only Rs.1470/-. Then why the charges go up to Rs.10, 000/- during the operation.

First of all, the first bill of Rs.51, 166/- was a wrong bill made by the hospital, which added charges of laparoscopy 2 times each Rs.10, 000/-
Normally, in distress a patient's family will not look at the billings and what charges they are including. But, I, being a doctor, looked over the charges and found that the hospital is cheating the patients in the name of treatment.

The pharmacy bills are never adjusted or refunded at the pharmacy rather they increase the main bill so that they need not refund anything.
Also they prescribed the same number of medicines to every patient in the ward and the rule is at the end it'll be returned at the pharmacy whatever is not used, and the bill will be adjusted at the main bill.
Again, being a private hospital, they do not keep any proof at the hand of the patient, after returning medicine they will not give any slip that you have returned this number of medicines and you will get this much money as refund . So, they can easily increase the final bill.
Before the operation the doctor gave us an estimate of Rs.30 thousand and maximum 35 thousand charges of the operation and after the operation they increased it including returned medicine charges which I paid separately before.

Even the hospital takes charges for providing us our own reports of any tests, after paying money for our own tests, the hospital refuses to give you the reports, unless you pay extra money for purchasing the reports. And the reports they are giving after payment is not seperated, it is only an treatment summary, Which should be given without any extra payment, as it is a patient's common right. These are totally against hospital ethics .
The patient's family can not even look over the reports and ask their doubts to the doctor on the second visit after the test, because they have not provided the reports.
In our case the doctor didn't tell us the whole USG report before operation. she only said your mom has one fibroid and one polyp, You should go for hysteroscopic polypectomy. Whereas after getting the discharge summary and buying the reports we came to know that she is also having one another fibroid and also adenomyosis.

They do not even release the reports even on the day you pay money for it, they will only release after all your visits to the doctor have ended. Then how a patient clarifies their doubts.

I strongly protest against the hospital rules and billing discrepancies which they are creating with every possible patient but being layman it's hard for a patient's family to understand or look at every charge they are holding.

I have included the dispute proof showing all the details of bills. Also, if any further information or evidence is required I will be providing the same.

Kindly look into the billing discrepancies of the wrong charges of laparoscopy that was not even done to the patient. I will request you to look into the issue so that I get back my refund money. . I hope to hear from you as soon as possible upon receiving this letter.

I booked my appointment with a senior doctor of CMC with rs900 through online portal. When I went to meet my appointed doctor about my problems the staff said, "the doctor is not available today, you've to consult with a junior doctor." Now my question is why they take an appointment when the doctor will not present that day and without my concern they just provide me another doctor. I didn't spent my 900 rupees to consult with a junior doctor. My problem is serious, that's why I came here all the way from Kolkata to get the best treatment. If you're taking an appointment of a perticular doctor please give us treatment from that doctor. I seriously think it's a harrasment for a patient like us.

I am R Krishna Swamy and I am from Madanapalle ANNAMAYYA District Andhra Pradesh.

I booked an appointment with Dr. Richa Gupta in Respiratory medicine clinic on 31 JAN 2024 10Am
I visited the doctor on 31 Jan 2024 at 10Am and I came to know that Dr. Richa Gupta was on leave without any prior intimation to the patient. Later our appointment was seen by another doctor and the another doctor advised us to take appointment on 03 Feb 2024 with Dr. Richa Gupta

For the appointment with Dr. Richa Gupta I paid Rs.800 for private consultation.

On 01 Feb 2024 I booked an appointment with Dr.Jeremy Bliss D in Orthopaedics 1 clinic.

I visited the clinic on 01 Feb 2024 at 10:00Am and I came to know that the doctor was on leave without any prior intimation to the patient.

For this appointment I paid Rs.900 for private consultation.

Now again the CMC management asked us to visited another doctor which we didn't booked.

This is a clear sign that management is not sending a prior intimation to the patient if the doctor is available or not and still there are charged the amount from the patient.

I followed all the terms and conditions of my appointments. Now it is the mistake from the doctor/ management for not sending an prior intimation to the patient.

Now I need to get the refund for both the appointment from CMC.

      Regards,
      R Krishna Swamy

Doctors are very rude while talking to the parents. Since my 2 years old son was admitted into convulsion and heavy fever they want me to take LP but I'm not interested as my family doctor says not needed at this age. But they wants us to take LP. Even all the doctors are juniors we are not much enough confidence to accept. My sister was worked as a staff nurse she said not needed for LP. But doctors are rude and they want LP if we are not ready to they didn't even bother about my son. Simply ignoring and moving to another patient one of the worst level doctors are there, please consider this and take action. Paediatric emergency ward 430 and room no 2.

The behaviour of security at the 2nd floor MRO 210B is too bad. He used bad language in the queue of patients. He creates a diversity of religions. At the time of checking, he found a Tamil patient and asked to be in the queue in 1st from the 9th position. We all are patient here and urgency is needed for all of them but why has the security brought him to the first position?
So this is for your kind information, please take necessary action in this regard.

                Dear Sir,

My wife is registered as a patient in CMC. Her registration number is 332658C. She had an appointment with ENT Specialist Dr. A M Varghese on 24/10/2023 at 10 am. I made this appointment from Australia and was given this date and time after paying the requisite fees.

We presented ourselves at the counter half an hour before the appointed time and was given token number 31 for room number 1. We were told that the doctor will call us within an hour.

We saw that the token numbers were coming up randomly on the screen and were staying there unchanged for 50 minutes at a time. Which is not possible unless the doctor was attending to many patients at the same time without showing their token numbers on the screen. There was always a queue at the door of room number 1, which substatntiates my view.

We waited there for 3.5 hours without any call. When we went to the counter, the clerk confirmed that the mentioned time in our appointment confirmation slip from CMC has got no relevance and if someone values his time, shouldn't come to CMC. The hospital doesn't care if we wait like mute cattles for whole day or not.

We came to CMC from a far corner of the globe with a high idea and we left the hospital at 1 pm without getting the treatment, with a very low idea about the management of CMC.

Can you please ensure that the CMC sticks to the appointment time and ensure the patients are getting treated serialy as per their token number? CMC should also consider the patients as human beings who can also have some value of their time.

                Regards,

                      Hello,
I am writing to express my serious concerns about the treatment of cancer patients at CMC Vellore hospital. Patients are consistently called in during the morning and left waiting until evening without explanation. Additionally, the behavior of doctors and nurses has been consistently rude. Immediate action is needed to address these issues and improve patient care. They shout at patients who are so fragile an mentally disturbed due to the disease. People from all over the India come to get treated in the faith of being taken care but the management is so rude makes patient run from room to room and floor to floor just to take permission from one doctor or other! The doctor’s spent most time chatting with each other and enjoying leisure time in cafeterias!
Kindly address this issue because it is very devastating for the patient and their family.
