[Resolved]  Airtel — Airtel 3G data card Bill Issue

Hi,

I am a customer of Airtel 3G Datacard (No: - [protected]) since Oct'12. I opted for postpaid plan of Rs 999p/m (6GB at full speed and there after limited speed).

I started facing connectivity and speed issues in November'12. Frequent disconnection and average speeds not more than 200 kbps (despite the claim of "Upto" 7.2 Mbps), I contacted and lodged complains with the airtel customer care several times (Complain Number - [protected], CC - Nirmal Prasad). Once they reverted, saying this issue is resolved but most of the times they closed the complain even without confirming from me.

This dragged untill January'13, without issue getting rectified. I decided to apply for dis-connection.

Immediately after raising the request for disconnection, I got a call back from Airtel, saying that they will resolve the issue withing 48 Hrs. Again the issue did not resolve. I called again for disconnection and Airtel called back saying they have identified this as a signal problem in the area and they will rectify this within 7 days. I got a call back saying that the issue is resolved.

After a couple of days I started facing the issue again. This was month of February'13 when Airtel admitted that it was a technical issue from their side and it could take upto 3 months to resolve the issue and gave me an offer to either keep the number dormant or convert to prepaid. They also promised me to give discounts on the period I faced the issue - i.e I will not be billed for the period.

I turned down their offer decided to switch the provider and hence raised a request for disconnection as well as waiver for February months bill.

The disconnection has happened but the waiver has not happened. I have not paid the bill for January'13 and February'13 demanding that first the waiver for February'13 to happen and then I will clear the January bill.

Now comes the worst part.

I am getting threatning and abusing calls from Airtel (Bannergatta Main Branch - so they say), to clear the bills. The last call I recd was from [protected] on 27th March 6:51PM. They claim to visit my office and home and hit me.

Further ahead, I have received a mail from corporate.[protected]@in.airtel.com <corporate.[protected]@in.airtel.com> on 10th April demanding that I clear the outstanding bill or else a legal letter will be initiated from Lokadalat.

Please help me and let me know is this legal? What options I have? I am happy to pay January's bill but not February. My protest is only to see if as a consumer, we are adequetly powered or we are puppets in the hands of corporate mafia.

AirTel — problem in bill

airtel says in there ad one for every one it means local calls to any no. is rs.1 in any bill plan from 15th of Jan 2008 but in my bill you have charged me rs.1.20 till now so what dose this ad means that you are making fool your valuable consumer my mob.no.[protected]

Airtel — Raising invoice after termination of service.

Dear Sir,

I was customer of Airtel Maharashtra and my Mobile No. was [protected]. I had terminated this service on September-2008 after settlement of all dues but still Airtel is generating invoice for Rental Amount whereas every month My credit card service provider is paying bill payment to Airtel due to auto Bill pay service. I request Airtel to refund amount paid by my credit card service provider or to me as early as possible. You are very well aware Credit card service provider is charging Intrest and Late fee for that Airtel shall be eligible.

HI,
The internet connection has not been working at my place from last 1 month.
Despite repeated complaints at Airtel customer care, no engineer has visited us to fix the problem.
Although, the bill for the month has been generated and I am expected to pay the bill, without internet being working/used during last 1 month.
I have asked airtel to cancel the bill.
They don't listen.
Worst is that, the internet issue has not been fixed till now.

Dear Mr. Amitcumar,

Seems like we both are sailing in the same boat. I've an Airtel Land line connection with broadband service. The free limit was upto 3GB per month. I had no issues untl upto almost 6 - 8 months. However, the month after, my billing was more than 100% of what I was usually paying and since I was aware that I had used a bit more than usual, I paid the amount claimed. The next month also, inspiteo[censored]sing within the limit, I got a similar shock. Still, this time also i ignored it and paid fully thinking some technical glitch at their end. To my surprise, the third month also, I got a similar bill and I wrote a strong letter intimating them to revise and rectify the bill and send me so that I can make the payment. I was then told to make the payment in full this time and they would adjust the same in the next bill. I was hell bent in not doing that. I too claimed that I shall be charging Rs. 100/- on them for "early payment" as they charge the same amount for "late payment" to us. They blankly rejected it claiming that the company policy does not permit it. I said my policy ( come on, not only those companies have policies, I too have a policy of my own) does not permit to make the payment against the error bill. I witheld the payment. It was more than 45 days since the payment was overdue. The telephone line was disconnected, still, I did not contact them for restoration.

Then, I got a call saying that my bills are adjusted and I was made to make a discounted payment. I made the payment. The next bill was for an even bigger shock. I was made to pay for the period where their service was disconnected to me. Again, I witheld the bill stating that I shall not pay for the period when I've not been provided service for. Their claim was that the service was witheld because I had not paid the bill. My claim was that the bill was not paid because those people did not provide me with a revised invoice. Finally, I got a discount for that also.

Now, these discounts are not being reflected in my successive bills and still is showing as "outstanding amount". Even after making 100s of mails and calls, it was not rectified, I too started to ignore it.

The problem with Airtel was started sometime around Sept. 2011 (yes, two thousand eleven). Everymonth, I shall calculate the amount for the particular month only and make the payment, simply ignoring all the other outstanding dues.Everymonth, I'm being charged Rs.100/- towards late payment fee, I shall deducted that amount also, along with all the "non existent" outstanding amount.

Here comes the best part. My billing date is on 06th of every month. And I start to get calls close to during that period only to raise the invoice. After speaking everything, I would be told to visit my nearest Airtel relation ship centre to get it sorted out. For which, i tell, I cannot waste my time to make payment for you people, if required, send your representative to our home, else, forget it.

I get the reply back stating that the issue will be escalated and within 24 hours, I'd be getting a call back to confirm the representative visiting my home, only to get back the call after a month, just before my billing date to continue with the same conversation.

I always record the conversation with these people on my mobile phone "for records purpose" as I have lost trust in them as they say one do another.

Since, they are at my mercy, I make them to accept what I say.
