[Resolved]  Airtel — Airtel Internet usage policy

This is Roshan Sharma, using AIRTEL mobile no. +91 [protected] having my query regarding the illogical AIRTEL internet proportionate policy.

I have received a postpaid AIRTEL bill no.[protected], dated 27th july’12 for my airtel number [protected] for Rs. 3000.31/- (after all discount). Containing Rs. 2400/- for 2G internet usage.


There are two complains:

1) My credit limit was Rs. 1,300/-, but they have slammed the bill of Rs. 3,000/-. (exceeding Rs. 1700/- above my credit limit). They have specifically stated the fact in there [introductory call that as soon as my bill amount will reach Rs. 1300/- my services will be debarred . (But still not done the same).


2) They have charged Rs. 2400 on account of internet usage, on the basis of AIRTEL proportionate usage policy.

a) I have activated AIRTEL 98 GPRS pack which gives user 1024 MB (1GB) of internet usage for the period of one month.

• I have used the same services for 19 days out of 30 days in the period from 26thJune'12 to 04th July'12 (9 days) and then again used the same pack for 16th July’12 to 25th July’12 (10 days) . Total proportionate usage available to me is 648 MB (1024*19/30). And during this period I have used 512 MB of internet which is under the proportionate limit available to me.
• When I contacted the Customer care for the same, it has been said to me that the services will be calculated on proportionate basis and separately for first 9 days and then separately for the rest of the 10 days., irrespective they have charged the GPRS charges for the whole 19 days.
• I am unable to understand the logic of this, as the pack is same, they have charged the amount for 19 days, then why they are not giving me the consolidated usage for 19 days. I think it should be on the wish of customer that how he has to use his cell-phone.

b) I have a postpaid plan of Rs. 249 MB under which I can use 200 MB internet. I have activated that 200 MB pack during the remaining period of the month for 11 days (05th July’12 to 15th july’12) and used only 141 MB out of the available 200 MB. But still I got charged for the internet usage for that period also and when I contacted to the AIRTEL customer care, they said the same is calculated on proportionate basis and I will only get proportionate of 200 MB for 11 days only.

I can’t find how they can calculate the 200 MB free internet usage (as it was including in my rental service of Rs. 249 per month) on proportionate basis as they are charging the 249 rupees of my plan irrespective of mine use of any of there services.



I have contacted three-four times for resolving the same but could not find a positive reply from any of the customer care executive.
