[Resolved]  Airtel — Swapping numbers and selling that numbers to other person for money

I have been using the post paid mobile number [protected] for the last 5 years

I have converted from post to prepaid scheme in 1st week of August, 2010.

In the last week of October: One person has forged my documents (Address proofs, personal details, etc) and taken the connection ([protected]) in my name and misused it. I suspect Airtel agents have helped to reveal my personal details to the person who has taken new connection otherwise its not possible to get my details whom I never know.

I gave the complaint to Airtel customer care regarding these irregularities on 16, 17th November 2010. Airtel customer care people have agreed that there were irregularities and Airtel has issued me a duplicate SIM on 17th November 2010 and it was activated and I started using it.

After 2-3 days again while using the number only was getting "Invalid SIM" message and I was not able to call/receive any phone calls from the number [protected]. This time also the other user given my private details to Airtel customer care and taken the connection in my name. I gave the complaint to Airtel customer care and taken my connection back by updating my SIM number with them and I warned them not to give my connection to anybody without verifying details. Airtel customer care agreed for that.

Again December 5th around Airtel people swapped my number and given to other person. I called the Airtel customer and said block the number immediately as I am travelling abroad and I will be back in 15 days and once I return I will take the connection back again. Airtel customer care said ok sir we will block the number and will not give to anybody.

I came back and gave complaint on December 27th to customer care. By that time Airtel customer did not block my number instead they gave connection to other user and changed the name also this time.

On 27th December 2010, I called more than 10 times. Even though there is no proper response from the customer care. I talked to customer care supervisor and informed about my concerns. They promised me to resolve in 24 hours and wait till then and get back to me with details. But no response from either Airtel customer care or Airtel customer care supervisor.

I called Airtel Nodal officer on 10th Jan 2011 and gave the complaint. They started investigating the case. They dragged 10days but it was not fruit full. As my interactions with them they did not investigate properly and they don’t know how to investigate also, they don’t know rules and regulations also. They did not have answers to my questions. They were showing carelessness in investigations. I spent lots of time daily calling to nodal office and forced them to do investigate fast.

I called Appellate Authority on 19th and gave the complaint regarding swapping my connection while using and given to other person. They said please give 2days time and will be resolved the issue soon.

I called Appellate Authority on 20th also and said your nodal office has failed to resolve my complaint and I am not satisfied with their responses and their investigation results are contradicting the complaints what I gave through customer care. I suspect Airtel people have modified the complaint statements and I suspect that Airtel is directly involved in selling fancy numbers (like my number) for money.

As I have been using this [protected] phone number for more than 5 years. My all bank details, private informations will go to that number. I called many times to Airtel customer care and every time I called asked them to block the number first and start investigations because that new person is misusing my number. But Airtel never blocked that number till now and just trying to escape from the problem.

In all the levels of Airtel customer care support and nodal office contains just junk people. They are not caring the customers at all.

Since I am the original user. I have to get my connection back immediately and Airtel has to take serious action to those involved in this irregular activities.
