[Resolved]  Airtel — Harassment for payment of bill though we had requested for the cancellation of services

I have been a customer of Airtel for more than 4yrs and I have never defaulted any payment or was there any case of late payment from my end. However in May 2012 I was unhappy about broadband service quality and decided to cancel the broadband connection. I am listing the sequence of events in bullet points below

• In June 2012 I called the customer service and asked for cancellation of broadband service. They mentioned it will take 7days for the cancellation to happen. They started calling us and giving us other offers with reduced prices and begged us to continue with airtel. I clearly stated that for the next 3 months I would be out of station as well and don’t intend to have any connection till then. Incase I decide to have it later I would call them.
• Every month I started receiving fresh bills for services that was never there and never availed by me.
• I started receiving calls (from July to Sep) asking me to go for other plans though I was not interested and mentioned the same very clearly. I also told them that I had just delivered a baby and not to harass me by calling me everytime for such things. But the calls never stopped. All through my delivery and maternity they harassed me with such calls and the bills never stopped coming till September 2012.
• After this another game started. Calls were for collection department for payment. Sometimes they would even threaten over calls. Everytime someone called we used to patiently explain to them on what had happened and the answer used to be “we will get back to you” or “someone will call you”. Never did anyone call to settle this issue but always they used to ask us to pay atleast Rs3000 or atleast Rs2000 and finally they came to Rs1000. Meanwhile I also received legal notices.
• I mentioned that I will pay Rs1000(which is my bill amount for the month of May) and would want this to be settled but however I would like to receive a statement first with that amount and that once I pay the same the account would be settled.
• I have mailed them over and over again about my problems. Till date I haven’t received a single reply. But the calls continue to pour.

I need an end to this problem. I have a very small baby and cant afford to run around their offices to clear this. Please intervene and get an end to this issue.
