[Resolved]  Barclays Credit Cards — Misselling of Priority Circle Membership

I took a Personal loan from Barclays and after that I got a call from them stating that they have identified me as one of the VIP customer and offered me a Barclay credit card and I asked them what is this for and should I be paying them any thing at all and they said no Not at all and hence I said ok.

Then I made the first transaction for 10000 which I made a full payment before the due date and in the next month statement I was charged a late payment fee for not making the payment with in the due date. I had to run around and call the customer # and any time I called them they only said the systems are down and I was asked to call later..This happened for 15 times. Then I wrote to the head service mail address and got a revert after a week stating that the late fee is reversed.

In the next month Nov 08 statement there was a charge of Rs 6000 and service tax if 741.60 then a late payment fee of 500 ect levied which I was shocked to know that I would have to pay this money.

I logged a call with customer service and they sent for investigation and was asked to call after 10 working days. I called and they said that they are yet to get a revert for the investoigation team and asked me to call after 4-7 days. Mean time I was asked to call the priority circle # 43300301 and I called them and said that I was not lyable to pay this memebership money as I have not given a consent nor I was made to understand that I would have to pay Rs 6000 towards this during the time that the card was offered to me. The lady who I spoke to sd that (Monisha) they check with the quality team and the call was ok and that it and hence they cannot reverse the amount.

This is full of confusion and misselling, Now I have registered a complaint with them for reversal of charged amounts but they said they can not cancel the membership, now they are saying that they have done the quality check and ebvrything is okay from their side, I have been facing this problem for the past 2 months and haven't received a single call from there side, I only receive a call from the collections department asking me to make the payment.

I am still waiting for my grievance to be looked upon. I have dropped a mail also to the [protected]@barclays.com and [protected]@barclays.com but havn't received any response.

Such a poor & pathetice service I ever received from a so called forein bank

priority circle — annual fees and not received free gift

I am a barclays card holder 4339 xxxx and I was told about this priority circle over the phone by a tele caller. I was not interested but still my next card statement shows 5000/- debited for annual fees. I have not received any write up or free gift as promised (Stroley bag) and there is no response from the company. I feel I have been cheated by the company. There is no response on toll free numbers and also on help line no.[protected].

Barclays Credit Cards — Non reciept of statement on new adress / non reciept of new card

Dear sir,

I customer of barclays bank cerdit card from last 1 year, i have lost my card, i had register the complaint of same to cusmer care, but till i am not recieved the new card.

my resident addrtess also changed, the is communicated to customer care . they also agree to they have in thier system, but i am not recived the statement on my new addree.

last month Barclays had been informrd me my credit balence was RS 9500/- i have not made any transaction from last 1 month. now barclays infrom me new balence is 11000/- something .

please send me all last six month month balence confirmation & new card .

i will not pay any payment or interst till i'll not getting the clarification.

I AM NOT RECIEVING STATEMENT FROM LAST 4 MONTHS EVEN THEN I AM PAYING THE DUES. BUT EVERY TIME I AM GETTING CHARGED THE LATE FEES & INTEREST CHARGES FOR THE FAULT OF BANK. I received a call on my mobile ([protected]) from your executive on
30-9-08 at 11.32 a.m from the telephone no.[protected]. I have the recorded telephonic talk of your executive and can produce the cd if required to you. The executive informed me about some offer but after the call I told him that I have to think over it and I didn’t give any confirmation to the same. He assured me that he will not debit any amount to my account without my confirmation. He also told me that I would be receiveing a letter from Barclay Card priority circle within 14 days and after reading all the terms and conditions I have to give a call as a confirmation to the offer then only it will be debited to my account. But till now I have not received any such letters from your bank.

I received a sms on 7-10-08 at 1.15 p.m stating that

“WELCOME TO BARCLAY CARD PRIORITY CIRCLE A CLUB FOR SELECTED MEMBER LIKE YOU SPECIAL BENEFITS LIKE CASH BACK, HOLIDAYS, A WELCOME LETTER ON ITS WAY.PLEASE CALL ON[protected] IF YOU DON’T RECEIVE THE WELCOME LETTER IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS”

On[protected]Saturday) I was shocked to receive a sms stating that an amount of Rs.60741 (Rs.6000+ service tax741) has been debited to my account
On 12.10.08 (Sunday) I was not in station to give a complaint regading this

After seeing this I had given a call on[protected]Monday) to the call centre & asked how it was debited to my account t without my consent and lodged a complaint .They told me that they will forward it to the concerned department.

I received a STATEMENT ON 22-10-08 and saw that Rs.6000 with servicetax 741 has been debited to my account with the dated 30-9-08.(It is very clear that it was the same day which your executive has talked with me and it is the same day that it has been debited to my account).Again I had given a call on 23-10-08 lodged a conplain and received a reference no-154987 from the call centre. I have given a call to Chennai Barclay Card priority Centre (ph[protected] stating to cancel the same amount.I also checked with your call centre people on the same day whether I should make any payment since my due date falls on 28-10-08 . But your people told me that you should make the minimum amount payment of Rs.340/- to avoid late payment charges.I once again confirmed to them that by paying the minimum amount you should not take that I am confirming the offer to you( of Rs.6000/-).Your people told me that they will not do so and that that amount will be reversed in the next statement.and so I pad the amount of rs 340- /- by way of cheq no 424872 dated 23.10.08 at canara bank panapally nagar branch
At drop box phothans video libery . they told me to call them after 72 hours

Again after 72 hours on 29-10-08 I lodged a complain to your Mumbai office (ph_[protected] I called up Chennai office also ).They asked me to call after 3 days The Mumbai office people told me call on Saturday (after 3 working days).When I called on 1-11-08 to your Mumbai office and found shocking to hear that they cannot wave out this payment

I am mentally veryupset with your banks behaviour with me .Kindly take this matter very seroious and urgent and wave of my amount of Rs.6000/- with the service tax


Otherwise I have to take up this matter to the court of law and.Also I will report the matter to the RBI credit card complaint wing, and report to the editor to all the newspapers.

Barclays Credit Card — Misselling of priority circle

My Name is Hrishikesh H. Sawant Card no [protected].
Recently around 15 - 20 days back I have received a call from your priority circle department promising some free holidays, some discount scheme.
First I got a call and was informed that I have qualified for your priority circle for which I will be receiving free gifts known to you.
I confirmed with the executive that if there are any charges I won’t be interested
I was informed and assured that there are no charges attached to priority circle, it is being given after seeing your good relation with Barclays and only if you take our free holiday there you need to payee Rs. 500/- and you will be the priority circle.
I was shocked to see that Rs 8569.80 is the balance payable by me.
I crossed check my statement and I come to know that an amount of Rs 6741.60 has been charged for priority circle.
I received SMS on 01/10/2008 for welcome to priority circle will get welcome letter is on your way if not received next 7 days call on customer care.
After I received statement I call to customer care I asked about charges and I like to conform my conversation with your executive.
As all conversation is happen on telephone there should be to way communication as your executive not able to give me the records of telephone conversion happened on 28 Sep 2008. As executive giving the reason that, we do not have such facility with us.
As customer I want to confirm my conversion as there I have not received any letter from your side as I asked about the welcome letter of Priority Circle it will only received when I do the full payment.
I have not got a single written word on the priority circle benefits which will be availaible to me for which you have charged me on my credit card . At least I cannot keep a proof of recorded voice which your executive has offered me so as to fight and claim the benefits from you.
I am spending considerable time in writing this note. I want someone to look in to this matter immediately and cancel the priority circle membership.
Secondly please put an enquiry on the conversation which took place between me and that foolish executive..
I have forwarded the same complaint to the Indian Consumer complaint forum. I wish to extend my complaint to the court if I don’t receive any co operation from your side...

Barclays Credit Card — Charged me for Priority Circle offer w/0 my consent

Barclay has given me the worst of times in my life in the recent days.

In August, I received a call from barclays about the pririty circle. I would like to know about it but later as I was in hurry then.

I never received a call from them later and they activated the offer. I was charged 5000 + taxes for the offer through my credit card. I immediatley called them about the cancellation of the offer, to which they responded as they would look into the history of call records and would do the needful. I was still positive that Barclay, being a international brand would definately handle it in my favour.

A month passed and I started receiving SMS from barclays about the payment of dues. There phones are always in wait state.

I spoke to customer care, to which they said, pay the min. dues so that you dont receive the SMS/calls regarding the payments.
So I did, thinking the issue would be solved. I communicated with them on mail regarding this. They refused to refund the amount. And now I have received a SMS today about the payment of charges.

Did anyone manage to get the refund? let me know.
(Someone from Baroda did. Any one from Mumbai ??)

priority circle — Barclays Credit Card Complaints - Charged me for Priority Circle offer w/0 my consent

I am Ramesh Ramakrishnan from Bangalore. I am Barclays Credit Card holder for the last 9 months and I never used this card even a single time. The card number is [protected].

I got disappointed before using this card due to the false commitment and wrong information which I got from one of the Barclays executive.

I had received a call regarding the PRIORITY CIRCLE membership 3 months ago. The executive over phone told me that I have selected as a best customer and they are providing free membership for priority circle even I never used my Barclays credit card in the past and 2 months ago I have received a SMS saying that my outstanding is around Rs.6100 and the minimum due is Rs.340. I have called the customer care immediately and reported this. They said that the charge was regarding the priority circle membership only.

As they said its free membership, I told that I never used any of the facilities over that and I would not pay the amount and the executive told that no one forcing me to pay this and no need to pay the amount.

I got disturbed a lot in the last 2 months by receiving many blank calls from Mumbai and Chennai numbers and receiving 2 sms per day. I have reported this more than 10 times over phone and I never get any updates regarding my problem.

Last week I have received a sms by saying that my name may go under CIBIL if I am not paying the due amount. Barclays is the only full responsibility for the last two months due exceeded.

I am very sorry to say this. As my Barclays credit card got misused and I never enjoyed any of the benefits over priority circle members, I can not pay any due and I would like to cancel my credit card account and priority circle membership. I have sent one email regarding this to [protected]@barclays.com on 17/11/2008 and I did not receive any update.

Again I have received call from [protected] and one of the executive asked me to pay the due. I explained all my problems and he advised me to call the priority circle number[protected]. I have called that number and its not connected to any of the executive.

It’s totally wasting my precious time and making me uncomfortable in my work place. If same kind of approach is continuing, I have no choice I will be going to report about this police and I have the recorded proof also.

BARCLAYS CREDIT CARDS — Forced registration on priority circle

Hi,

On my Barclays credit card, they registerd me with there priority circle, i called them up twice for cancelling my registration as when they gave me offer they mentioned it as free but afterward they cahrged me around rs 6750, i called they and told them that iam not going to pay the amount, noe they are calling me everyday for payment.

there customer service says that it is compulsary now and i have to pay it, they cannot cancell my registration.

RECENTLY BARCLAYS HAVE ANNOUNCED MANY SCHEME, WHICH I DON'T ATTEND THE CALLS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE ATTEND THE ONE O[censored]R CALLS WHICH COMES FROM UR PRIORITY CIRCLE HAVING SOMETHING TRAVELLING AND HOTEL STAY PLAN, WHICH I ATTEND, BUT U HAVE DIRECTLY DEBITED ME RS 6000 + SERVICE TAX, WHICH IS NOT FAIR EITHER WAY, AND IT IS INCREASES MONTH BY MONTH, I HAVE ALREADY CLEARED THAT THE OFFER IS GOOD BUT I HAVE NOT GIVEN CONFIRMATION, BY THE WAY I UNDERSTAND THE OFFER SHOULD FOLLOW BY CONFIRMATION CALL AND PROPER PAPER, WHICH IS NOT RECD BY ME.

NOW I AM FADE UP, FOR RECEIVING UR CALLS FOR MAKING PAYMENT.

LAST TIME I RECD CALL FROM U THAT, U HAVE TO PAY RS 340/- MINIUM DUE
TO PAY AND CANCELLED THE ABOVE SAID PLAN AND GET RS 340/- CREDIT IN NEXT STATEMENT AND WHATEVER EARLIER DEBITS TO BE REVERSED. THAT'S WHY I MADE THE PAYMENT IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2008 .

THEN I CALLED TO UR CUSTOMER CALL AND SPOKE TO UR EXECUTIVES ON 08/12/2008 BY 9.30 . I GAVE ASSURANCE THAT, THE AMOUNT WILL BE REVERSED AND NO MORE CALL WILL BE RECD TO ME AND CARD WILL GET CANCELLED.

HENCE REQUEST U TO CANCELLED THE PLAN AND REVERSED THE FULL AND AMOUNT AND CREDIT RS 340/- WHICH I DEPOSTED VIA CASH ON 17/11/2008. OR CANCLLE MY CREDIT NO [protected].

MEANWHILE I HAVE LOST MY FATHER ON 09/09/2008.


THIS IS VERY HARRASSING TO ME AND VERY HECTIC.

SO REVERSED THE AMOUNT OR CANCELL MY CARD

baclays credit card — not receiving bill,falsely making a priority circle member

i have applied for baclays card & received also on the month of september.now the problem is that i have not receiving any bill from that moment. i made acall to customer care regarding this making acomplaint to mr. satish nayar bearing request no. 241116 dtd.25.10.08that i will not pay any ammount until i receive my credit card bill.they told me that it will take seven days to rectify it.after few day i received a message regarding piority circle member that they have made amember for it atonce seeing it i made acall to customer care they told me that they have taken the request & assured me of cancellation.after that i make several call to customer care about my complaint they say that it is under process.on the month of dec i decided that i will not make any call to them . suddenly in the month of jan i got a call that your ammount is due and you pay a minimum ammount of that i told them that i have lodged a complaint regarding this and until my problem is not solve i will not listen any word .
in the above context i have told every problem of mine & now adays they are threaten me that i know how to realise of my ammount and your cibil will be make poor that in order i wont get any credit card or loan . i also told them if any transaction what i have made i will pay withour any late fees etc.since the fault is not mine . they other two request no. are CAS846894, 897351.

Barclay Credit Card — Reg: overdue payment

Hi,
I got barclay credit card and in that they have applied icici insurance in an emi which i have canclled and full amount has been refund. Its more than 2 yrs gone and they have the emi and asking me to pay the amount of nearly Rs.5800 with fine and other charges. But i have cut the card nearly 1 and half yrs before and i have communicated every thing to barclay but i dont receive any reply and communication from them.
Nearly for 2 yrs i have been communicating to barclay but i dint receive any solution and not even a phone call but from chennai they are calling me to pay the amount and they call to my home and speaking roudly to my family member.
Kindly help me to solve this problem and i have to apply for loan and because of this i could not apply any loan.
