[Resolved] Batra Hospital — Wrong Discharge Summary

Hello Sir, I want to bring in your notice that i admitted my baby in Batra hospital for the Open Heart Surgery. I had a medical insurance cover and during admission only i opted for cashless operation cover. The pre intimation insurance claim form was filled up by the diagnosing doctor Dr. Viresh Mahajan and Der. Anil Bhan mentioning the type of operation and the treatment. Based on this i got my approval from the TPA Insurance Company "E-Meditek" initially for the 1 Lakh. I had the insurance cover of around 2L which was told me that will be settled during the final bill settlement. I was told by the doctors initially that the expenditure will be around 1.75 L but i was shocked that my final bill was settled around 2.35L. Anyways i thought most of the amount may be getting settled via insurance. But to my utmost shock and harassment i came to know that my entire approval was rejected by the insurance company. The fax said that the claim cannot be judged at this time due to some additional defects and treatments in the discharge summary. So i even lost the approval of 1L and hospital refused to discharge my patient. Now first of all based on their mistake in the discharge summary i even could not discharge my baby as i did not had the required full amount. I had to take some money from my friends and relatives and based on such a short notice arranged the money to get my baby discharged. later on further investigations i found that the discharge summary was incorrect and was prepared incorrectly by pasting the data from some other patients history . This is totally a very big mistake and i want the hospital to pay for it to make them realise the mistake. During the course of treatment i found the hospital and the doctors totally money minded and least bothered about the patients. It is just by the grace of GOD that my baby got discharged safely. In fact we were even scolded for asking about the condition of the baby. I hope it is my right to information for knowing each and every details during the treatment. Hi,

I totally agree with you and symapathise with you. Nowadays all the doctors are more focussed on the money rather than on the treatment. That is the reason more and more negligence is bein caused.
I will suggest to go to consumer forumn and log the formal complaint with the hospital under Section 12, Consumer Protection Act, 1986

I agree with you but i must say that this does not hold true for Dr. Anil Bhan and Dr. Mahajan. It was because of them only i went to Batra Hospital for the surgery. I am fully aware of the facts that they participate at free medical seminars and checkups globally and perform several demanding operations, free at cost whereever required, with very high success rate.. It was this trust only which made me mentally prepared to undergo the surgery at BATRA. I would also like to confess here and still believe that Dr. Anil Bhan and Dr. Mahajan were truly sincere and dedicated towards their work. I must say that they are the best doctors and truly dedicated towards the recovery of the patient.So i believe they are not at the right place where the fault of any doctor/junior doctor or an administration may directly or indirectly spoil their image or feelings. So this is the only reason why i do not prefer to log the formal complaint. So finally i would like to thank Dr. Bhan and Dr. Mahajan for their support and if possible get this incident investigated and highlighted to administration and make them realise about this issue in order to avoid such incidents in the future.
My intention is just to make them realise and if that is done that will make my day.

HI All,

I am a big time sufferer from Dr. Anil Bhan. This case is of FEB 2002 when Dr. Anil Bhan was in AIMS. I got my first baby boy with normal delivery. I came to know about 60% VSD in his heart. I am a poor person. When i approached to AIMS first of all no body was their to take care for my baby. Then some how we got admission in AIMS. Dr. Anil Bhan planned surgery OHS for my 2 months baby. Surgery too 6 hours and they said operation is successful and need not to worry. then very next day came to know that Dr. Anil Bhan has to go to CHENNAI for some voting. We met with Dr. Anil Bhan and he told us other doctors will take care. By this time we were very scared. Dr. Anil Bhan went CHENNAI same day. You can't believe i lost my son because of Dr. Anil Bhan. This happen in month of FEB 2002. If Dr. Anil Bhan recalls.

Baby name was Master DHRU.

I would like to give some advice to Dr. Anil Bhan. Sir GOD HAS GIVEN US ONLY ONE LIFE. AND ALL YOUR WEALTH WILL BE HERE ONLY. NO ONE EVER HAS TAKEN EVEN A SINGLE PANNY. PLEASE HELP THE PARENTS WHO ARE SUFFERING. GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF.
