[Resolved]  Expressit Courier — Non-delivery of consignment (AWB#807284Z352)

I was supposed to receive a consignment from Expressit courier carrying my HDFC Credit card (AWB#807284Z352) on April 11, 2009. Not receiving the consignment I wrote a mail to the customer service department of Expressit courier on April 14, 2009. Subsequently I received a call from its Mumbai office and the person assured me to deliver the consignment by 3-30 pm on April 16, 2009. In between I received a couple of calls from its Kolkata office staff (I received call last week as well) and I explained them the location of my residence. They tried negotiating the delivery time unnecessarily. Being a service holder it's not possible for me to stay at my residence throughout the day just for receiving a courier. I am available at residence after 7-00 pm and before 8-00 am. I asked them to handover the consignment to my relative available at my residence after verifying the documentary proof. I have kept my original Govt IDs like voter ID card / passport / PAN card with my relative for this purpose. They could have checked such original documentary proofs of my relative as well for this purpose. But they insisted that the consignment can only be delivered to me personally or some of my blood relatives. My parents do not stay with me and I am single. So it means they can't deliver the consignment to my residence unless I take that personally! It's simply ridiculous! Earlier credit cards from banks like HSBC, SBI, ICICI and Citi have been delivered to my relative at my residence after checking their valid Govt IDs! I have also given them the option to deliver the consignment at my office in Kolkata after checking my original and valid Govt IDs. But they didn't agree! It's a matter of deep regret!!!

Probably you people are wondering why I have written such a detailed complaint! Some delay in delivery is acceptable. But this is a case of sheer negligence of the staffs at Expressit courier's Kolkata office. They are typically stubborn in attitude and lack flexibilty and willingness to solve an issue. I believe they lack the basic sense of politeness, integrity and professionalism. And people like us do not expect such amateurism from a professional and reputed organisation like Expressit.

Hope this issue will draw attention of the concerned authority. They should take a propmt and corrective action in this regard and prohibit the occurence of such incidence in days ahead!
