[Resolved]  ICICI Bank — ICICI Credit Card Illegal lien on Savings bank Account

Sir/Madam,

This is to lodge a complaint against ICICI Bank Credit Card Department who has illegally put the amount in my savings account on lien for credit card outstanding. There was absolutely no communication (via email, phone call and hard copy letter).

Due to this I have cheque bounces on my account. When I enquired about this they talked very arrongantly and said that they have authority to do whatever they want on our savings bank.

I have 1 credit cards from ICICI against which ICICI are showing a balance of Rs 28,860.43
I have been making the regular monthly payments.
Credit Card No. [protected]- Limit- Rs-20000/-

Payment details are as below.

[protected] 1,500.00
[protected] 1,400.00
[protected] 1,410.00
[protected] 1,420.00
[protected] 1,430.00
[protected] 1,500.00

These above payments have been made only towards the interest amount, which the bank has recovered.

This month payment is pending and due date is[protected]. I went to ICICI bank today for this credit card payment, and found they have put a lien on my savings account.

As mentioned above, this has illegally put the amount in my savings account on lien for credit card outstanding. There was absolutely no communication (via email, phone call and hard copy letter).

I was not at all contacted either by Credit Card Dept or Recovery Dept.They are insisting that only after I make a payment of 22000/-, they will release the lien.

ICICI Bank Savings Account is my salary account and it is connected for ECS for my personal Loan Accounts. Because of this all my cheques are bouncing.

Particularly look for answers to the following queries from my side:


1. Why wasn't I contacted about details regarding the case, during the case investigations at all?
2. Why was I not informed about the one sided decision taken by the bank?

Please remove the lien on my saving's account at the earliest.

I request you to please contact ICICI bank and remove lien on my savings account.

Hi Sir,

I have used ICICI bank's credit card ( [protected]) in year 2007 and therafter i was paying the dues regulary.However i countinued to pay the minimum due amount every month as i am not in position to clear all the dues at one go,i visited to bank's collection center at andheri for settelment as the amount was not reducing by paying minimum amount and there i learnt that bank can settel my card at amount of rs 27000/-, on this i aggred to the same and asked them to provide me with 3-4 installments, but they denied for the same. Again this month i made a payment of minimum amount due on 4th Feb whereas my due date was 10th Feb, after making the payment well in advance and that too before due date, than too bank has marked lien on my salary account and when i contacted the customer care they stated that the lien was marked due to non payments, whereas i have never defaulted for a single time in last one year.After repeated requests and follow up with the ICICI bank, bank has never co operated with me & now they are using unethical way of blocking my entire salary.

Also the lien which bank has marked is illegal, as bank can only mark lien on customer's account when customer is not contactable or else he faulter to make payment repeatedly. In my case i am making regular payment and proactively approaching bank to settel this account.By this website i am trying to seek justice and also want to know that how will salaried individual survive if bank is taking away all the funds that are credited in form of his salary?

Hope would get some positive result on this matter atleast for this time.

Hi All,

I got a lien marked at my salary account against the credit card due, however I never had a credit card with ICICI bank.
When I called customer care the told me that my Date of birth and name are matching with that card holder. I do not understand this.
Can anyone confirm, that how many details should match to mark the lien? as my father name, address and pan card number is not matching.

i got a lien mark on my icici salary account. in 29 dec in my account 24000. rupees but on 30 dec 2015 it show in- 55000 in miness. i contacted customer care many time they said you did wrong imps so your account got lien mark. i visited nearest branch they said you have to go your base branch . they did not make any solutions.
i have no credit card. my saving icici account no is[protected].i m very helpless . my name is sitpal

My name Jaspal, I moved to US in 2014 and converted my Salary account to NRI/NRo after 6 months.
I asked the Representative to move all associated ICICI account anything to new address.

Yesterday I got letter here in US that I have lein on my account for some 6000Rs. I was socked to know that it is against some credit card, because I was sure that I am not using any credit card and none of the bill sent to me.
After lot of investigation and opening my all old email accounts I found that there was one payment I did in May 2015. of Rs 1000.

Now, this amount is 6000 Rs after 9 Month, almost 600 times! Which bank gives that much interest tell me I will invest.
Late payment fees on each month is 500Rs for 1000rs unpaid, Service tax 70 plus etc..

Calling them from here US is itself a hassle, I keep on calling and waiting and paying my phone bills here in $.

I am only requesting that this was not done intentionally and no motive of not paying the money even I am not blaming them even if my contact details which I asked was not updated at same point when other accounts got updated. My only humble request was that to remove late payment fees and put interest rate and charge me.

6000Rs is not a big deal but the problem is how much you are taking care of customer and considering the genuine case they explained you.

I will close the NRI account next day and move to other provider if it not considered and removed the charges.
I hope it make sense for you to loosing one time fees and loosing business.
