[Resolved] ICICI Bank — Account freeze due to Mumbai Floods Loss of documents
Dear Sir, I am an NRI living overseas. Recently I came to know that my NRE account has been debit frozen. When I called-up ICICI Bank, I was told that they have lost my account opening documents in 2005 Mumbai floods. Since they don't have my documents, they have debit frozen (cannot withdraw money) the account. The Bank happily continues to accept my overseas remittances while freezing the withdrawl. This means my funds are locked-up by ICICI Bank for no fault of mine. The irony is the Bank made no attempts to reach me in this regard so far and froze the account without proper notification. I wanted to know how should a consumer like me suffer for the negligence on the part of the Bank. Was this information helpful?
