[Resolved]  Irda — Fake bonus calls

I too got a call from a person supposedly from ICICI PruLife where i have a policy. He was able to tell me (somehow) about my payments and said that I have been in loss. He said that the loss is because my agent had not defined the agent code due to which a lot of loss had incurred. In order to overcome this, IRDA had tied with ICICI and Reliance to provide a bonus of 80000! For this, I needed to pay about 50000 k. As all seemed suspicious i asked him to send me a mail with details to which he said he would. Am waiting for his 'mail' but in the meanwhile, I read this forum and realise that it indeed is a trap.

Pls beware of such calls. I got the call from[protected].

Today (09/05/2013) I also recieved a call From Ms. Nidhi from [protected], who told me that she is an employee of IRDA and this ia a verification call for my in-force life insurance policy and gave me my IRDA number and explain me that IRDA issuing 225350 Rs bonus for my life insurance policies but it will be transfer to Mr. Neeraj Sharma (Whom i do not know) because I authorized him to get this amount from IRDA. I didn't understood that what issue happened today with IRDA. She asked my details also to verify. I asked them to meet personally & helpline number then call disconnected.
All these seems fake calls to trap innocent people.
Can anyone suggest that what action we can take after these kind of calls???

I got a similar call from[protected] informing me that I was elegible for 72 k bonus on my policy of icici. I will have to buy reliance insurance of 40 k and after 3 months it will be transferred to my icici account. email request of offer was denied.

Please beware of such fraud calls.

I also got a similar call today 17th May 2013 from contact no. [protected]. There was a Lady who told me that someone named Neeraj Sharma, well known to me (but I don't know any Neeraj Sharma) has submitted a claim in IRDA with my signature to withdraw a bonus of Rs. 2.25 Lac which is provided to me by IRDA (Since IRDA has collected some money & due to my regular timely payments my name got selected) and that my agent has not told me anything to me & Neeraj has declared that I cannot claim as I am into some legal issues. She was telling my name, father's name, my address etc correctly to me.
She told me that above amount was about to be refunded on Neeraj Sharma's account but unfortunately in last verification call they are confirming from me & if I disagree now, the said transaction will be cancelled. In that case I have 2 choices, either to refuse amount or to claim it again under my name. Now to claim it, I need to furnish Rs. 42500/- and submit to them so that they can release Rs. 2.25 lacs + 42500 also to me in my account.

I said that I cannot pay any such amount & you can deduct the same from 2.25 lacs. Instantly then she disconnected the call.

I had received similar calls from following numbers [protected], [protected], [protected]. The name of person calling was " Trupti Deshmukh". She told me she is from IRDA and told me all about my existing policy . Then same bonus story. Since as she already knew about my policy, I believed her and agreed to buy a policy for 50K as security deposit which will be returned to me in 45 days. She immediately sent her collection agent and took the cheque in the name of Birla Sunlife. The documentation however could not be completed as I was not ready to give my bank statement. The new issued policy was cancelled by BSLI and my money was refunded. Then she asked me to take RLIC policy. Like a fool I agreed and forms were filled up in name of my wife. All formalities including medical was done. But the policy was again rejected due signature mismatch and money was refunded( GOD WAS TRYING HIS BEST TO PROTECT ME AND I WAS TRYING TO PROVE HIM WRONG!). This was today. She again called up and asked me to redo the process to which I agreed(To prove GOD wrong). So the almighty gave me "AKAL" to type IRDA bonus in google search. And then I realised how I was saved. I gave a mouthful to the lady. I still must accept her guts as she refused to accept that this is a fraud and ended the conversation telling me that I will be the ultimate looser of Bonus of INR 2 Lakhs. I have submitted a written complaint to Birla Sunlife. I recommend all those who have been cheated/receiving calls to immediately send emails to concerned policy customer service depts. ICICI Pru Delhi has already lodged police complaint and some three people have been arrested.

I received call from this number with the similar content ( except for the fact that I won lottery from Airtel.

received call from number [protected], asking to claim amount of 1.37 lacs related to my reliance policy, when i asked why was i am not informed earlier, he was even able to give one address on which alleged letter was sent by IRDA, though this address is the one where I used to stay 5 years back. after 5 years i have changed 2 places and also updated that in my reliance. There seemed to be some fraud.
Also he stated that this is for 2007 year to be paid in 2013 fin year. for that it was required to invest in some market linked policy and then only could claim that.
When I conveyed to hinm I doubt you, he was rudely telling me that he will go ahead with approving the claim made my some Neeraj (claiming to be my agent) against my name.
I told him to get lost and will do what ever i need to do on my own, his help not required.

NOTE: Now one thing this thread has details for these fraudalent calls with phone numbers, Is some authority looking into these complaints and will ever take action against these guys.

For the last 6 months or so I am receiving calls on my land line No. which is in the name of my spouse. That IRDA has declared a bonus against my old LIC policies. So may times, my wife has given them my mobile No. to talk to me directly, but they didn't do so. But, regularly they have tried to contact me on landline.I turned a blind eye to such calls. Once, I received call from a person named Mr. Agarwal he told me that IRDA has declared a bonus of Rs.1, 36, 374/-. I told to note down the file No. The No. is TRP-Q007943CR. They also told me not to share this information with anyone or your agent otherwise he will take away 35% agent commission from your bonus. Then Mr. Agarwal transferred the phone to his so called senior Mr. Rajeev Mittal (He given his No. as [protected]). He to told me to invest Rs. 20, 000/- in Birla Sun life Insurance for 45 days only and on expiry of 45 days I will receive a DD dated 27/08/13 of Rs. 1, 36, 372/- and within 2 or 3 days I will get back my Rs.20000/- after deducting Rs.350/- as service charge. Sensing fraud I told him to call me after two days. After two days again I received a call from Mr. Rajeev Mittal from another No.[protected]. I asked him to give me the website where I can locate my Bonus file. He replied that no such website is there. Only I can give you the bonus. Then I asked him that I am not available at Headquarter as such I will not be able to give you my details and chq of Rs. 20000/- then he asked me that he will contact me on some other day. Now, I search it on online and came to know about the fraud by finding comments from so many people. Thank god I have not fall prey to such calls.Here, I fell to understand that how they are demanding the cheque in the name of Birla Sun Life Insurance. The concern authorities are requested to take serious note of this and take stern action against such people or agencies.

Just received a call from IRDA number: [protected]. Stating some bonus and fund transfer to some Vinay Gupta. Since I was in mid of meeting couldn't able to speak much to that guy.
However, the caller looks too stupid to me not a regular call center guy.
And was unable to provide any details on the what bonus and what fund. It is a fake call. Please be aware of the same.

same here, got a call from executive from irda naming shikha agarwal with mobile number [protected] asking to submitt 35% of the benefit of 1, 82, 435/- then asking for personal detail. when i asked to give me mail address on which I will submit detail then she denied in a technical manner, also i asked her to furnish her irda code she was unable clear doubt of malfunctioning on the name of irda. all this fraud and mobile numbers are on the net. Seems Govt is waiting for bigger fraud.

Today, I got a call from the mobile number [protected]. When I checked this number on internet, I come to know that there is no mobile operator with this name and there is no mobile series with this number. They were telling that We are calling from IRDA and my dad had some pending money which he invested in some insurance company. They told that first we need to submit the cheque for the pending balance and they they will provide us the insurance money of 2 LAC. When I called that mobile nubmer again, they told that there is no guy name Mahesh Kumar Mittal. THAT WAS A FAKE CALL. PLEASE TAKE NECESSARY STEPS ON THIS SERIOUS CONCERN.

I also received fake calls from numbers [protected] and [protected] claiming to be from IRDA department promising to give bonus. When I enquired about their address they told me they are calling from CP New delhi. Please beware and do not share any information they are fraud.

Similarly I, Ashok Shah from Vadodara, Guajart suffered a fraud by fake call from Kotak Life Insurance company. I have made complaint to the company in detail for cheating done with me by their officers. They emotionally convinced me to deposit Rs.20000/- two times for getting entitle bonus rs.37000/- against my regular policy taken before 5 years, therefore I deposited on thier commitment and assurance thus they have cheated me two times. After making complaint instead of positive response they have started to torched me to make the premium payment. Due to that high level torched to me being a retired age person, I suffered heart problem and operated immediately.
It is a very big story played with me. I am requesting to all people not to entertain any call from Kotak for any product. Without my permission they have directly tried to get payment through ECS from my bank. I came to know by my bank that Kotak has asked payment through ECS directly but in absence of my permission they refuse and intimate me.

I am booking my complaint to IRDA with a request to resolve my genuine problem to recover my money.

Today, I also got a call from the number [protected], from some Shankar Trivedi claiming he is from IRDA and informing me that today is last day for my policy which submitted to IRDA, and asking me to submit a check of 25000/- and all my documents to an agent for Sun Life Birla Insurance policy otherwise my policy will be lapsed and I will loose 72% as per IRDA norms. When I asked the company name of my policy, he started making excuses, afterward I got suspicious, and asked to send me fax or email of this information and then only I will make decision. After I searched on internet "call from IRDA" and I founds hundreds of these fake calls, my doubt is right - be careful about any call from this number and do not give any personal information, and never - never ever do financial transactions just by a unknown phone call, and report to police..

i have been a victim of this scam adn lost over 3 lakh. a Mr Ashish ([protected]) made me invest in so many policies one after the other and then a Davis Cub card by a lady Sushmita Arora ([protected], [protected]). i have been cheated o fmy hard earned money but posting this so that no one else gets cheated.

I had also received calls from IRDA - panvel office. Mr. Prashant Patil / Ms. Swati Shinde / Mr. Mahesh Naik for the bonus amount from Icici Prudential. They told me that my bonus amount is about 5 lacs. To recover this amount i have to take Reliance policy to unlock agent code.
As per there suggestion I had invested in 3 policies of Reliance life insurance of about amount 1lac 5 thousand. but till today i have not received any amount or any confirmation letter from their side. Hence, Yesterday i have lodged the police complaint against them. Hope police take action against these fraud people.

i got the same call today and saying the same things as you mentioned. i also warn all to be alert from this type of calls.
These Delhi area brokers are now using this types of tricks (calling from IRDA for Bonus) to catch the innocent peoples.

strict action should be taken from IRDA to get off this type of brokers.
