[Resolved]  Irda — Fake bonus calls

Address:Mumbai City, Maharashtra

Hi,

Received a call from a number [protected] saying that he is from IRDA and I will get a bonus of atleast Rs. 65200/- for the insurance policy that I had taken few years back from Birla Sun Life Insurance. However, I will have to make an investment of Rs. 20,000/- for showing off. I got skeptical and asked him to send me an email using his official email id with the details of the documents required and the person I needed to contact. He said that today is the last day or else I will lose the bonus.

I turned him down saying that I don't need the bonus. But thought to alert you before someone else gets trapped in this.

Thanks,
Naresh.

This is related to the Fraud call I received yesterday ( 30.7.14) from Delhi region saying that the person ( Aryan Khanna-[protected]) is calling from GBIC dept of IRDA and I have got some bonus from my Birla sun life policy, which is going to be transfer to agent account in next 24 hrs, and if I want to get this amount I have to full fill some formalities immediately. At that point of I thought of that this person must be a fraud as IRDA never calls to any customer regarding policy and the policy which I own does not have the bonus clause as such. Still I continue with the talk saying that I am interested . Then he said that ok I am forwarding your file to the concern department . After some time I got a call from One lady ( Nikita-[protected]) saying that she is calling from Axis Bank Noida, and she is having a cheque of Amount xxxxxxx) which is going to be transfer in the agent account by 2:30 pm and If I want to get this amount in my name I need to full fill all the formalities by 2:30 pm after giving a call to Aryan.
Then I received the call from Aryan saying that I have to give a cheque of amount of 35000 in the name of Reliance life insurance company which will be utilize for RGP ( Reliance growth plan) for one year and the amount will be refund back after one year with 42000 INR. And the bonus amount of Birla sun life will be credited to my account after 90 days of completing these formalities. After that I got a call from another person ( HK Mehta-[protected], [protected]) from so called “Reliance insurance delhi” office that as I want to have the bonus amount, I have to submit the documents for which he is sending one person to collect it from my office address. After that I got their (Aryan and Mehta) call after every half an hour for submitting the document and I said that as I am busy with my work so I will be able to hand over the document in the evening or tomorrow. But they were so desperate that they started saying that if I will not submit the documents now I will loose that Bonus amount.
I said ok give me your email ID I will forward all documents after scanning to you and then he was not able to answer that why he want all documents in hard copy. When I confronted him for the fraud he was trying to do with me, he ( Mehta) accepted that they were trying to do a fraud by doing the investment in reliance life insurance of my money and basically they are from some Broker agency and for each policy they will get some commission.
After that he started saying that kindly do not launch any complaint sort of thing against them as their intention was just to get business out of my money.
I am sharing this so that more and more people get aware of such fake calls, who claims that they are from IRDA and cheat the innocent people. Also request IRDA and other insurance agency to take action against such brokers who are playing with their brand name in the market and ultimately creating a negative impression in the mind of common citizen.
good work
I received this kind of fake call today from +91 - [protected] about the unclaimed bonus of my LIC policies and asking me to register for new reliance insurance policy to get 100% of the amount. I came to know that its fake after he told the amount which is more than I paid so far. Be aware of such calls, they have wasted my 1 hour.
I have also been receiving similar calls from noida and delhi ncr. they claim to be speaking from connaught place n. delhi whereas in fact their call is traced to noida.they seem to target mainly bsli customers. . they refuse to reveal their location, name of office and refuse to email the queries. they try to put scare in the customers that something seriously could be going wrong with their accounts. inspite of being told that all is well they keep calling repeatedly. cant police or irda do something to nab fake callers or educate public against such practices.
the call i recently received from is[protected]
I received a call from [protected] and the person's name was Rahul Bhardwaj claiming to be calling from LIC Office, Delhi. He knew all my policy details and said there is claim which I havent claimed. This was declared by LIC as they benefit through the Share Equity trading. He went on to explain that agent from whom we get do not disclose this to us as they want to earn 40% of the claim amount. I was surprised as my policy was serviced by the agent is our family friend and he wouldn't do so anytime. and I pay all my premiums online. So I probed more and they said your claim amount is about 1.25 lac and to claim they require me to submit documents of address proof and verification so will transfer you to my Accounts department. They said they will transfer the amount to my bank account. Then they started to weave their story about to claim this amount you need to another policy from a private insurance like Birla Sun Life or 2 more options with a policy which has Rs 40, 000 as premium. So Birla or the new policy company will transfer the money in my account and then I can choose to close or continue with the new policy.

This was done very professionally and if someone is not careful, one can get ripped off badly. I could hear people behind talking on other phone. Big Call Center set-up and this is a big racket. Please do not share any financial details over phone with anyone.
I also Received A Call from [protected]

But For That i have to take a Policy From HDFC LIFE INSURANCE

Her Sr. Manager Name is Rahul Sharma : [protected]

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have today (08/08/2014) received a call from Mr Mohinder Sharma (Mobile No.[protected]) informing me that he is calling from LIC India head-office, Mumbai & that I have got a bonus of Rs.1, 42, 429/- from LIC.

He told me that to get this bonus, I will have to send a cheque for Rs.25, 000/- favouring "PRUDENTIAL CLUB" at A-75, Gr.Floor, Sector-5, NOIDA. He insisted that it has to be paid today, this being the last day.

The bonus, he claimed, was from profits out of CWG 2010. This is a scam, which has to curbed now, before any innocent person gets entrapped.

I have provided you the phone number and address to nab the culprits at the earliest.

Thanks

Hi,
I too got a call from persons named Sagar Gupta, Ishu Mehta and Sanjay Rana supposedly (Regional Fund Manager ) from ICICI PruLife where my late husband had a policy. He was able to tell me (somehow) about my payments and said to reactivate my policy. He said that the loss is because my agent had not defined the agent code due to which a lot of loss had incurred. Due to change of govt; new policies have been introduced to give back the refund amount to the policy holders which they could not get earlier. For this, I needed to pay about 30000 k. As all seemed suspicious i asked him to send me photocopy of all my documents they have with details to which he said he would. We also told them that we will handover the cheque by hand and let us know their office address. To my surprise, this female named Ishu Mehta didn't know about the office address. I am still waiting for the call regarding my 'policy details' from this fake supposedly regional fund manager, sanjay rana.
I read this forum and realise that it indeed is a trap.

I recieved calls from :

They asked me about my Date of birth and current address. They also provided me an IRDA file no. Then mentioned If I want to claim it I will have to register a complain and then to initiate the payment I need to buy a policy without involving the agent. The amount of the policy would be 40000/.

In April 2013, I got a call from Ms Divya of ICICI Prulife ([protected]) & Mr Hari Ram Mehta, Operation Deputy Manager on behalf of IRDA (Mob. number [protected]) and said that He is calling on behalf of IRDAI ( policy servicing dept.) and they have to pay Bonus+ Commission against my existing policies to agent. She took details of my policy which I had from ICICI Prulife (Policy no[protected] and Birla Sun life insurance co. Ltd. mentioning that my insurance agents are getting bonus & commission without rendering services to me on my existing policies. Hence they asked me to surrender all my existing policies taken from those agents on urgent basis under pretext that agent will not get any benefits like bonus, commission on my policies and same will be paid to me. Further, whatever monitory loss due to premature surrendering these policies, will also be recovered & paid to me by making recovery file. Since Mr Mehta is from IRDA, will issue regulatory note to Birla Sun Life & ICICI Prulife to return my money back. However, this amount will not get transferred directly to my account, for which I need to take a fresh policies. In view of the above Mr Mehta asked me to take the policies from ICICI Prudential Life Insurance & Reliance Life Insurance co. for the amount of Rs 0.30 L on 8/02/13 +Rs 1.1L on 25/04/13 & Rs 1, 0L+Rs 0.498L on 31/07/13 respectively. Loss due to surrendering premature policy amount will also be recovered and paid to me along with agent commission which otherwise would have gone to agent. Further he added that, although the tenure of the new policies will be for 5/7 years with 15 years period, with intervention of IRDAI, my policy amount will be locked for three months only. Accordingly, I have purchased above policies by re investing money received by surrendering existing policies & also invested Rs 99, 000/- in Govt Pension scheme (in the name of my spouse).
I was getting verification/confirmation calls from different agencies like SMC Insurance Broker & Insurance cos. for confirming all my details. As per commitment from Mr Mehta, I would get this amount along with lost money while surrendering old policies, which will be around Rs 4.72L by 30th April 2014 due to me by calculation. Over and above, he assured me that, company will pay agent’s commission, bonus, & growth also, which will be Rs 2.71L. He will remove agent code from my new policy.
As per Mr. Mehta’s commitment, I was to receive my all dues including agent commission, bonus & growth on or before end March 2014. He created my file number, Fund Transfer letter (FTL) number, IRDA login ID, NOC letter, Pension letter & confirmed me that these documents will be mailed to me before actual fund is being transferred to my Bank account NEFT. Further, the amount which I will be getting will be totally Tax free.
On 08/03/2014, I received a call from Mr. Sanjeev Chauhan (Mob no. [protected]) from fund releasing department saying that he has received my file from Govt Body of Insurance Concealing (GBIC) through Mr Mehta for releasing my fund. He also confirmed all details like my file no, A/C no, FTL no etc & the due amount over the phone. Mr. Chauhan started explaining me, since due amount is large (Rs 8, 71, 280/-), I need to pay Insurance tax to Govt. of India at rate of 24.5% on the due amount, under “Diamond category”, without which the fund cannot be transferred. The matter was discussed with Mr. Mehta, in telephonic conference with Mr. Sanjeev Chauhan, he also advised me to pay the tax by taking one more policy of Rs 2, 13, 500/- . This amount is to be deposited with Govt of India with my file documents & registered within 6 hrs to enable them to process file & generate Transaction ID. After lot of debate & discussion with Mr Mehta & Mr Chauhan, In spite of having no funds with me, I have been forced to buy new Insurance policy of Rs 2, 13, 500/- (Bharti AXA) immediately. They have informed me the amount of Rs 8, 71, 000/- will be credited to my account by 16/05/14 & new policy amount (Rs 2, 13, 000/-) will also be credited to my bank account by 10/09/14. There was option for me but to go for new policy. Mean time I have received Transaction ID & fresh date of release of fund by 16th May 2014.
On 19/05/14, I got call from Ms Nikhita Sharma ([protected]) from National Fund Transfer Department (NFTD) informed me, that she has received my file from GBIC for releasing the fund of Rs 9, 71, 280/- . However due to resent changes in guidelines between Insurance Cos. and NFTD from 1/04/2014, she informed me my Credit limit fund (CLF) is only Rs 99, 000/-, it means that they can transfer only Rs 99, 000/-to my account. Rest of the money will not be released to me, Hence I need to increase my CLF to Rs 4, 98, 000/- under ‘Gold Category’ within 12 hrs.
Somehow, with great difficulty, I have managed to gather Rs 4 lakh by barrowing loan from my relatives. Balance amount of Rs 98, 000/- was paid by Mr Mehta on refundable basis.
To increase CLF limit I have to purchase Policy from Bharti AXA of Rs 2, 85, 500/-, from Apollo Munich Health Insurance Co. of Rs 5, 400/- & Paid 2nd Premium of Rs 1, 10, 500/- towards ICICI prudential life insurance co & in June 2014.
On 1st August 2014, 2nd premium of Rs 48, 227/- towards RICL policy got debited from SB Account through ECS.
On 30/09/2014 my total outstanding Refund Amount was as under.
1. Rs 9, 71, 280/-
2. Rs 2, 13, 500/- against Bharati AXA policy
3. Rs 1, 10, 520/- against 2nd premium paid towards ICICI
4. Rs 48, 227/- against 2nd premium paid towards RICL.
Total Amount to be refunded by 30/09/14 is Rs 13, 44, 480/- and was confirmed to me that said file is absolutely clear and amount will be credited to my S/B account on due date.
On 09/09/14, Mr Surya Pratap Singh of NFTD ([protected]) called me and extended payment due date by 05/12/2014, on want of Fund Releasing Code which will be issued before 3/12/14. Mr Singh confirmed me that all letters will be delivered to me by 03/12/14.
Mr Singh informed that, to transfer fund from NFTD, they have to generate Fund Releasing code. For which I need to invest 7.3% of total due amount (Rs 98, 500/-approx) in insurance company.
Again, I have no option but to purchase policy from AEGON Religare life Insurance of Rs 90, 000/- & Rs 5400/- in Health Policy from Apollo Munich heath Insurance co.
Mean time Mr S.P.Singh issued CLF number & Fund releasing code to me on 09/09/14.
The amount invested towards CLF and Fund releasing code also will be refunded by 31/03/15 ( Rs 4, 98, 920/-+Rs 90, 000= Rs 5, 88, 920/-)
On 5/12/2014, Ms Nidhi Chopra ([protected]) from Canara Bank, Hyderabad HO called up and verified details of my SB A/C, Transaction ID, CLF No, Fund releasing code etc & confirmed that the said amount will credited on or before 28/12/2014. This has delayed due to Income Tax officer’s are making issue. However the same will be sorted out by Bank Authority and bank will clear the matter before releasing payment.
On 26/12/2014, Ms Nidhi Chopra ([protected]) called up in conference with Mr.H.R. Mehta, she has informed me about Income Tax to be paid before crediting the money. Hence payment is further delayed .I lost my patience & reluctant in paying any money to them. Finally on 15/01/15, Ms Nidhi confirmed the cheque number & the amount of Rs 13, 44, 480/- which will be credited to my account on 28/02/2015 after verification Call from bank HO by 05/02/15.
Almost for one month she was not traceable. Ultimately payment was further delayed & no communication with either Ms Nidhi or Mr.Mehta. Meantime SMC Insurance & Insurance broker’s started reminding me for payment of 3rd & 2nd premium towards ICICI Prulife & RLIC policies respectively.
On 28.01.15, Mr Mehta called me saying that, agent are making problem for my refund, hence I have to make 2nd premium payment of Rs 98, 984/- against RLIC policy no 51126344, which is overdue.
Many times I had doubt on them but due to greed of recovery of my lost money against surrendered policies and getting commission, I was cheated by them. I know it’s completely my fault. In fact all my investments were against my wish and capacity.
Since then, I stopped paying further premiums towards any of the policy. I am reproducing below the various investments in last 2 years in the insurance companies against my will and capacity. I am not in a position to continue these policies; almost all policies are running in lapsed mode due to non payment of Premium.
In the process, I have lost my all savings which was kept aside for me & my family after retirement. Now I am retiring and have no other source of income it will be difficult to meet the daily expenses.
Now, I realised that these people have done a fraud with me and lost my hard earned money. I request IRDA to take strict action against these Mafia.
I am continuously calling them but nobody is responding my calls. I have approached Insurance companies.
Bharti AXA and ICICI prulife, they have decline my request asked me to approach nearest insurance office of ombudsman /GBIC. Kindly help me in getting my amount refunded from insurance companies.

Thanks

Hi All,
This issue has been in place since few years. I didn't know about until yesterday when I got a call from the so called GBIC department. They told me that I have some bonus amount and to get that bonus they asked me for money, I got suspected and started abusing them for their fraudulent activities. Immediately I searched in internet and found that it happened to so many other customers like me.
My first question/concern is how come these people know our mobile number along with the insurance company from which we have taken the policy. Those people are correctly quoting the insurance company name from which I have take the policy. Isn't there any act/law to protect consumer/customer personal details ? Are they hacking the insurance company database and getting those details ? Or those insurance companies are selling our details to these fraudulent people ? Where is the flaw ?

Today they got our mobile numbers. I wonder If they have our residential address and employment details too ? One day they will directly come to our house and do whatever they want claiming that they are the government officials.
Where are we heading to ? This can become very very dangerous unless government (cyber crime) step in and take some serious action on it.
