[Resolved]  M/S Parvati Service Station, Indian Oil Dealers / Petrol — Cheating in the supply of petrol

Dear Sir,

I, Mr. S. B. Sumant, am a resident of Rajendranagar, Navi Peth, Pune - 411030. I work in M.S.E.T.C.L as a Asst. Engineer.

I have a alto car (MH12-CR-6285) and i filled fuel today morning at the above mentioned petrol pump at Sinhagad Road, Pune - 411030. I filled petrol of Rs. 1000 that is 19.34 ltrs (bill No.: citibank auto card ROC No. 000974, date: 22.04.08, time 11:38:01) . During the process I could only ensure that the display of the pump was set to zero. But at the end couldnt see the final 19.34 figure which is mentioned in the bill.

My car petrol tank capacity is 35 ltrs. As per that my pointer on the dash board should indicate above 50 % mark. But I went for my another work I observed that the final settlement of the pointer was quiet below the 50% of the tank. So immediate after completion of my work I phoned the owner of the pump and he told me to come here immediately before change over of the delivery boy shift. When I went there, the boy did not accepted of short supply of petrol.

Then I asked the person to completely fill the tank so as to check how much tank was empty. Second filling was of 19.58 ltrs amounting to Rs. 1012. (bill No.: citibank auto card ROC No. 000979, date: 22.04.08, time 13:03:17)

My initial balance in the tank - 1ltr. approx.
First fill in the tank[protected].34 ltrs exactly according to bill
Second fill in the tank[protected].58 ltrs exactly as per bill and display verification.

The total comes out to be 39.92 ltrs. However as mentioned earlier and as per the maruti car specification the tank capacity is only 35 ltrs. This shows that I was cheated when I filled petrol for the first time. That is received 4.92 ltrs less petrol though I paid the full amount for 19.34 ltrs. as per the current rate.
The delivery boy is Mr. Kailash Choudhary and the owner of the pump has taken my written complaint but dint have a company's complaint book.

Looking forward to your action at the earliest so that people like me dont suffer the losses.

Regards,

Subhash Sumant

The tank capacity you mention is the MAXIMUM fuel that you should fill in the tank..For safety purpose there is additional space within the tank to allow for EXPANSION of the liquid should the temperature go up...otherwise BOOM!!
Morale of the tip - Never overfill the tank by moving and shaking the vehicle..

Cheers..
