[Resolved]  Mumbai Auto Rickshaw — Andheri Station (East) autos dont go to places but use share

Hi All,

I agree with the mentioned concern and it not only happens in Andheri east but is happening through out Mumbai. People face lot of trouble at Andheri station in the west side as well as Autos just reject your request to go to the destination, leaving passengers standing for almost 30 - 45 mins just to get an auto rickshaw.

I request the concerned people to take immediate action against these autos and provide feedback on the same.

This problem is not new but has been there for many years now. But Mumbai traffic police always turns a deaf ear to this. According to Mumbai Traffic rules legal provision MMVR 22 (d)
178 (3)(b), an autorickshaw cannot refuse to ply and every time he does so, he is liable to pay a fine of Rs. 100. I have been facing this problem for the past two years and am frustrated by mumbai police's unwillingnes to tackle this problem. The traffic policemen are busy collecting fine (usually below the table) from cars jumping red lights because they know that carowners can afford to pay them, but they won't bring an autowallah to order because makes no moentary sense to them. I have finally decided to buy a car because of this and add to the growing traffic and pollution in this city. Auto drivers and the mumba trafic police's appeasement policy towards them is a major reason for increasing no. of cars on the road.
Alas!! such complains always fall on deaf ears

I comletely support and agree with the concern expressed here. It is indeed a very big problem and as rightly mentioned, it is happening everywhere including Goregaon, where I reside. It is a cause of much trouble to the consumer, leaving them stranded for as long as almost an hour.
the problem needs immediate redressal.

Auto Rickshaws Mumbai — Refusal to particular destination

Hello Sir !!
This is to bring to your notice that most of the auto rickshaw drivers (mainly in suburbs Andheri west region) do not want to take fares from Andheri (W) to Andheri (E) and vice versa.
I travel from Andheri(Versova) everyday to Andheri(E)Sona Udyog and face a lot of problems commuting and waiting for auto's in the peak hr of 9.00 hrs -10.00 hr in the mor.
I usually take an auto from Andheri fly over but it takes me around 15 -25 mins every single day to reach sona udyog as no auto is ready to come there.
I donot u/tand why do they refuse to go to a place which a commuter wants them to.
I think they should be by laws made compulsory to leave a commuter to thier required destination,unless they have some real personal/technical issue.

This is not the only problem they usually agree going to places which are free of traffic and are direct roads, where in mumbai are there such roads any which ways.

Would appreiciate if this matter is looked at, as this has become one of the biggest task and even more a huge stress to tackle everyday to reach in time.

Today we boarded in an auto rickshaw from andheri station, then we went to Andheri lokhandwala to pick up kidz from my sister's house and continued in the same rickshaw to Jogeshwari east, we reached at 11:20pm, we had total 3 bags, 2 with me and 3rd my husbands office bag. we all 4 got down, my husband was paying and myself with kids moved ahead as my kids were very sleepy.I took 2 bags and 3rd was expected tobe carried by my husband, his office bag. he asked me did u take the bag? without looking behind i said yes, thinking he's asking about mine ones. So i said yes, and kept moving ahead. But suddenly my son asked me pap's asking his bag, then i said "no" till then rickshaw left, then he rushed behind to find loaded auto, , but he lost the auto rickshaw, he couldn't find. We haven't noticed his auto no. too. so we could complaint for lost and found.

Kindly help us to find our lost office bag left on the back seat in an auto rickshaw.
It contains our precious valuables like my husband's old addressed passport, cash, cards, new cell phone etc.

Mumbai Auto Rickshaw — Meter Tampered

I took an auto rickshaw from sakinaka circle to dahisar check naka and the meeter was tampered and charges me 180 for the total distance via arey colony and there was no traffic anywhere on the road as it was 4 pm in the evening. the auto richshaw number MH 03 AK 103. Please help me as these kind of cheating is increasing and due to vote bank policy nothing is being done on this.

My sister boarded auto rickshaw from Dahisar East station(Mumbai), near Adi Ashray hotel. While coming on the way to my home, Anand Nagar, she kept the Camera bag at back as she was carrying 4-5 bags, so while getting down at Anand Nagar she forgot the camera.
