[Resolved]  Mumbai - Taxi — Taxi drivers cheating

Address:Mumbai City, Maharashtra

We reached Dadar station early in the morning around 6am. We had to go to SevenHills Hospital from Dadar railway station. I was approached by a taxi driver (Sikh) who was talking nicely. We told him to take us to Seven Hills hospital. Then he called another fellow, who is also a Sikh. He told us that if we need A/C, it will cost extra. Even though the actual fare would be around Rs.250/-, he took us in a longer path, so, the cost became Rs.500/-. Not only that, when I gave him a Rs.500/- note, he told us that it's just a Rs.100/- note and demanded another Rs.500/- So, we got cheated for Rs.1000/-. He was not allowing us to get down the car, and insisted on paying the money in the car itself. I don't remember the exact taxi number, but I would request others to be careful with taxi drivers. Also, be very cautious with Rs.500/- rupee notes, as it's a common form for them to cheat.

Unfortunately I am also cheated. I ended paying 1980/- instead of 399/-. very difficult to explain all events happened. Whe i given 1000/-, he showed me 100/- and insisted that you given only 100/-. I was in a bit hurry and i thought it might be a mistake on my side. Later when i counted balance in my purse I knew that i was also cheated. Beware of about taxi services in Mumbai. Better traval by bus and train
it seems the Taxi Drivers of Mumbai are magicians. Within no time ( in fact in your full view) a higher denomination notes becomes a smaller denomination note. we took a taxi number MH 02 BQ 7045 from Borivali Station to Hotel Tip Top Plaza in Thane at about 04.45 am on 09.05.11. On reaching the hotel i gave him two Rs 500 notes and i had absolutely no doubt about it. i saw the driver taking out money from his pocket and thought he will give me the balance. To my great surprise he took out two Rs 100 notes from his pocket and asked for the balance from me insisting that i had given two Rs 100 notes. when we objected, his companion moved towards us threateningly. it was still dark in the morning and the road was lonely we could not do any thing and had to give him another Rs 1500. what a shame on mumbaikars.

I reached Dadar station early in the morning around 6am. as i had to go to hotel from Dadar railway station to Sion. I was approached by a taxi driver (Sikh) who was talking nicely. adn also his collegue was sikh. When I reached i gave him 500 he told i have given 100. I was sure about 500. But as I was alone in morning i could not do anything. Please any Mumbai Police catch these two . You will find them at Dadat Railway station...And they are also taking money higher than actual to be paid.. INstead of 75 they ask for 275.. Very Shame to Mumbaikars. They are not taking actions against them..

This incident has happened with two of my colleagues who were cheated with Rs. 500 notes and were handed over Rs. 100 notes (which were slightly torn from right side) early morning at Dadar Station. Mumbai Police is not doing anything to counter such acts. What a shame on Mumbai :(
This happened to us today. It was a sikh driver again. He charged us 500 for Dadar to Sher-e-Punjab society. I am not sure how to save hapless people from getting cheated, day in and day out.

Unfortunately, Most people must be looking for such post only after getting cheated.
