[Resolved]  PNB — QAB Charges

Address:Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

Dear Sir,
SB a/c No. [protected]- Levy of QAB charges
I am maintaining a Savings Bank a/c with your Chowk Branch Lucknow. When I recently got the passbook completed , I was shocked to note that the Bank had deducted Rs. 900 towards QAB charges during the previous six quarters for not maintaining the minimum balance in the a/c. On approaching the bank through written application, the Branch vide its letter No. 11 dated 07 May 2010 informed that "As per present CBS guidelines of the Bank the customer should maintain minimum balance Rs. 1000/- in SB a/c at every time/ date and if the balance goes below Rs. 1000/- even on a single day in any month thew QAB charges Rs. 150/- is debited from the a/c by the system.".
In this connection it may be mentioned that as per Rule 4.1. (a).(i) of the SB Rules printed on the passbook, issued to me on 29 October 2004, a minimum balance of Rs. 500/- is required to be maintained and I was piously complying with the same though I could not operate the a/c for quite some time.
I was never informed by the Bank of the above change in the bank rules either orally or in writing, except for the above letter and I am maintaining the minimum balance of Rs. 1000/- since then.
Had I been aware of the changes in the minimum balance and the CBS, I would have certainly complied with the same instead of waiting for the bank to debit Rs. 900/- to my a/c in this regard and cry at a later date before the Bank.
I request you to please look into the matter and reverse the QAB charges levied illegally in my above SB a/c, under advice to me.
Incidentally, the bank had also debited Rs. 150 for getting the above account converted into a joint a/c. I also request you to please reverse the joint a/c charges with retrospective effect. An early response in the matter is solicited.
Yours Faithfully,

Bank — QAB charges

There is a Famous Private Bank in india they are Taking ( just Eating) my Money Rs:750 apx from my Bank Account. And They are just mentioned in the Statement Paper " OAB Chrgs Rs: 750".(apx)

1) Not explaining clearly to the Customers...( Mainly in Towns )
This Kind of QAB charges, They are Not Explained clearly during the time of My Account Activation.
especially, in towns.

2) No Proper Intimation, before Taking money
I feel They should give Some notice letter, before taking money, so that the customer can maintain is minimum account and avoid any deduction from his account.

Current a/c No. [protected] Levy of QAB charges Rs.1150/-

I am maintaining a Current a/c with your Tansen Road, SB Chauraha, Gwalior Branch. When I recently got the ATM Mini statement, I was shocked to note that the Bank had deducted Rs. 1150 towards QAB charges during the previous month for not maintaining the minimum balance in the a/c. "The bank never issued CBS guidelines of the Bank, the customer should maintain minimum balance at every time/ date and if the balance goes below even on a single day in any month the QAB charges Rs. 1150/- is debited from the a/c by the system.".

I was never informed by the Bank of the above charges whereas the mobile number is registered with the bank.

Had I been aware of the changes in the minimum balance. I request you to please look into the matter and reverse the QAB charges levied illegally in my above Current a/c, under advice to me.
The bank had also debited Rs. 95 for incidental charges . I also request you to please reverse the charges. An early response in the matter is solicited.

Dear Friends,
There is a difference between minimum balance requirement and Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) requirement.
Minimum balance is simple ; at any day if your balance goes down to minimum balance requirement penalty or incidental charges will be recovered from your account.
But Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) means; it is the sum of the end of day balance in the account for each day in the quarter, divided by the number of days in the quarter.
Some banks opt minimum balance requirement and some opt Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) requirement criteria.
Most of the nationalised banks opt Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) or Monthly Average Balance (MAB) requirement criteria.
Simply to calculate Quarterly Average Balance, for example, of the quarter of April to June, take the balance of end of the each & every day from 1st Apr to 30th June, now sum it and divide it by 91 (30 days of Apr+31 days of May + 30 days of June). Now it is the Quarterly Average Balance.
If you are having a Savings Bank Account with SBI with online facility, you can find MAB (Monthly Average Balance) on the screen in Account Summary menu in the Accounts detail portion. You can clear your concept by viewing it.
CBS is only the software, designed and handed by the human beings. What the programming they have fed, obviously results will be in accordance to that. If there is no difference was treated in the programming between QAB and minimum balance, results of both the concepts will be the same. While both are the different concepts.
And Net Result is;
Debit from Customers Accounts (Wrongful Recovery) = Credit to Bank's Profit Account.

Keep your Struggle always ahead.
Jai Hind.
