Samsung Dvd Player — sixth time malfunction by DVD player within one year
I am a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase I, Delhi, and brought an original Samsung DVD player in August 2008 from Neha Electronics, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Main Market. The mentioned shop is an authorised dealer of Samsung products and my set comes with a one-year warranty from the company. Within about four months of purchase, the DVD player developed a snag for the first time. The DVD player was unable to play any DVDs or CDs -- notably even brand new original ones. We filed a complaint with the given call centre number, and soon enough an enigineer came and did some fixing up. The player ran well for a few weeks before it broke down again. This routine has happened five times already. The latest being in the first week of July 2009, when an engineer came to our place after the DVD player broke down for the fifth time and once again tinkered with the machine, promising in the end that he had fixed it. He even claimed to have changed some parts inside. This time, the machine ran for exactly four days before it konked off for the sixth time. After the machine was fixed for the sixth time, We received a call from Samsung after a few days asking if the machine was working fine. When I said no, the caller promised to convey my complaint to 'concerned authorities'. Nothing has come out of it yet. This is the first time I have bought a DVD player from Samsung and I am sure it is also the last. From a reputed company like Samsung, this was the last thing expected. Or is Samsung normally habituated to pulling such fraud by selling defective pieces to DVD consumers? If these people has any concern for the consumer who fetch them their bread and butter, they would have had the decency to exchange the DVD set. A DVD player that malfunctions six times within the first year is, by ever yardstick, defective. Is there a platform where I can take this up? Consumer Court, I am told, is too cumbersome a process and frankly nothing comes out of it. Would be happy if you cvould guide. Vinayak Chakravorty Was this information helpful?
