Samsung Split Air Conditioner — Unexpected problem in AC

I had purchased the AC thinking about the reputation of the company in the market. For last two years till this January, my AC was running without any complain. With same enthusiasm I recommended my friends and family members to go for the same company without any hesitation.

But February when I called Service Centre officials for some minor repair for sound coming from outdoor unit (Compressor), within one month after repair I had to call them again for some new sound. To my surprise, they found that the compressor fan base structure had corroded totally and due to the same problem vibration sound was coming. They informed that the outdoor unit had to be taken for patch work, and since warranty for unit is only for one year, the repair would cost me around Rs. 2000/-. Also, the outdoor unit supporting angles have got rusted fully even though there was a protective paint coat.

The unit was installed as per normal procedures only, with outdoor unit being kept outside open to sun and rain. Knowing that Kerala is a state with rainfall for almost 8 months, I even insisted the installation people whether any problem may come to the unit. But they told it is meant to take care of these environmental conditions.

Initially I thought this problem may be common to Kerala locations, but when I went through my friends and my office ACs, I feel my AC commissioning was for far better condition, but other ACs are not having any problem for more than 5 years ! As an example, the ATM AC installed in our colony is working fine for last 5 years since I am living in the colony. The outdoor unit with its stand is not degraded even a bit for these time.

I would like to ask a question whether the unit, which is having warranty for one year is made to work satisfactorily for 2 years only ? Also, since the repair work required is totally due to fault from the company product design side, why should a consumer suffer for the same ?

Till now I used to recommend my friends and family t go blindfolded for Samsung products, but now definitely I would never recommend anybody to waste his hard earned money behind any product of such companies, who rather than concentrating on their product development ad customer satisfaction, waste time in sales and advertisement !

Hope this will open eyes of the concerned.
