[Resolved]  Seagate Hdd — Limited Warranty

Seageate Hard drives offering less warranty because they are selling refurbished hard drives which are reassembled in factory by replacing faulty parts in HDD. The harddisks even sealed in anti static packing and looks brand new from outside.the actual thing is the inside of hdd is not new. Most of the drives have been run for 20,000 hours and the actual hdd life is near to 40000 hrs. if you use hdd monitoring tools like crystal disk info on a new Harddisk,you can see the actual information. I recently brought(Hyderabad retail computer shop not flipkart) a Seagate 160gb ide harddisk (DB 35.5series)distributed by DigitalWaves company,i have found some clicking sound when i actuallly shake a littel bit near by ear,thats a sign of badly used hd or casued by dropping the hdd. even if it works at that time,it may cause bad sectors or frequently restarting of system. The one i brought is used in DVRs,CCTV footage recording purposes. so the next day i replaced with another seagate barracuda drive which has run for 30000 hours and power on count to 720 times. which is again used. So this time there was no cliking sound i started using it. The HDD sentinet software shows it has 1000 hrs of life remaining, This is the reason why seagate reduced their warranty time because the HDD has been used for half of its life time and only other half or its life time is remaining. The seal of HDD is so good you think it is a brand new one, and if you check the warranty they say its and OEM sold as a part of other device and contact your seller or distributor. so the warranty has to be claimed only at the place you purchase and not at ACCEL frontline warranty service,the official partner of seagate.Digital waves is a company which provides IT infrastructure like servers on rent and reselling used and imported devices.So they areimporting the HDD that are used in DataCenters and IT servers,and are selling as brand new HDDs. HDD monitoring tools like crystalDiskInfo,Hdd Sentine,Seagate tools reveal the actual usage information of the HDDs like the Power on count,power on hours,and other technical information.
