[Resolved]  Standard Chartered Bank Credit Card — Repayment period reduced increasing burden

Dear Sirs,
I hope this complaint falls on the ears of the right people to handle and help distressed and harassed customers from the clutches of such unscrupulous Banks.
I was holding a Standard Chartered Bank Titanium credit card for the last 9 years and have been one of the firsts to hold this card in our city. I have been making all payments on time and whenever there were delays, have been paying their late charges and interest. I have availed 2 loans on my credit card and paying the EMI on time. I also admit that there were some delay and willingly paid with interest and late charges.
One day out of the blue I received a letter saying that my credit limit has been revised from Rs.2.43L to Rs.10 Thousand ( which apparently is based on the Banks highly intelligent research team saying I can spend and pay only that much). And in spite of repeated request was not considered for re-revision. This, I feel is an insult considering that I have been such a loyal customer and not defaulted any time. Hence I told them to cancel my card as I thought it was not worth continuing with a Bank that does not care for its genuine customers. Now they have converted all my loans, whose tenor was 48 months to be settled immediately and levying huge interests and late charges, It is really a burden to make such hefty payments. I am however making payments more that what was required to be paid on a regular basis as per the agreed tenor. I have written numerous letters to them to consider my case and give me the time / tenor that was initially agreed to by both o[censored]s. Ironically at the time of canceling my card they never informed me regarding the conversion of loans of EMI to immediate settlement. This is increasing day by day the Bank Statements I am getting don’t make sense at all because there are charges and interests every where. In spite of paying atleaset 10,000/- to 15,000/- every month, my outstanding only reduces by a 5,000/- or so…..This is really hurting.
On the contrary to the Banks decision above, I have been offered new products with the new schemes and their other branches calling me and offering me Platinum card and they have also sent me an EMI Card with much more benefits. They say I have been considered as an esteemed customer and have offered this. But just because I chose to cancel my card they have done this and the interest burden so high that I cannot bear this anymore. I have sent plenty of mails and my every mail says I am ready to settle the amount in full but as per the original Tenor. But the problem is the So called “Customer Service Executives” and when escalated to the “Supervisors” know nothing more than “Sir make the payment immediately” and ask me to “ read the small prints on the booklet given to you” and conveniently say that “you have already signed on the documents accepting all this” at the time of taking the card. I understand that, but my contention is I am not going to cheat the Bank, but want time ( as initially agreed with them as per tenor), which will help the genuine customer and also not default the Bank in any manner. I am again ready to sing off any document regarding this.
This feels like they are butchering me and extracting every drop of blood that I have in my body. Banks cannot become richer at the cost of genuine customer’s lives. This is hard… PLEASE HELP. I AM NOT A DEFAULTER….

Hi Prasana,

I am sorry to hear about your accident. It is very painful to hear that a situation like this has caused you so much anguish. Now apart from this it is imperative that you have this card closed immediately because in due time your CIBIL will be affected and you will not be eligible to apply for any loans in the future this will impact your future plans as an individual and also cause way more stress. If you would like to get expert help on the situation you can contact me on[protected]/ [protected] or email me at [protected]@debtdoctorindia.com you can also check our website www.debtdoctorindia.com

Thanks & Regards,
Timothy
