With introduction of core banking solutions at State Bank of India branches, an account holder can operate his account from any branch in his city. For this service at non-home branch, certain reasonable charges are understandable. However, State Bank has not charged anything for the following 3 services which is welcome. (1) You can withdraw or deposit cash up to Rs. 25, 000/- free of cost. (2) Cheque/DD etc of any amount can be deposited for clearance free of charge within the city (3) Cheque of Rs. 20, 000/- can be deposited for clearance free of charge between two different cities. The above facilities are free of charge and we are thankful to SBI for the same.
But I fail to understand the charges of Rs. 10/- levied for Passbook updation per occasion at non-home branch. After carrying out the above free of charge activities at the non-home branch, does the SBI expect the account holder to go back to his parent branch for passbook updation? This is illogical, arbritrary and shfows lack of common sence.
I would like to request the SBI Authority to withdraw the Rs.10/- charge of Passbook updation forthwith to retain its good image.
Thanking you.
