I have maruti swift registered in Chennai since i have a home in Chennai as well as in Bangalore i visit Karnataka often but my permanant residence is in Chennai where i work and stay over there most of the time, my car was seized by the karnataka rto forcing me to pay up karnataka road tax as well when i said i was returning to chennai in two days and why should i pay road tax here in karnataka when i dont stay here and only come for a visit, and according to them since i have my own house here i am considered to be a residence of bangalore and i have to compulsary pay road tax. This is unfair as to i have to pay road tax twice just because i visit my home in bangalore. And its no small amount its a whopping rs65000. I feel these people are trying to take us for a ride to show monthly tax revenue. Apart from this they forced me to sign their report paper before giving me a slip when i told them i will pay up in the court if i had to. Was this information helpful? | 
There is nothing wrong on the RTO, as they have seen many people doing like this to avoid TAX. People bring vehicles from outside Karnataka and drive years together without paying TAX. When they are cought, they also say like you. Yours case may be a genuine but majority people lie to save TAX money. It is good on everybody's part to follow the RULE of the land. Since you are taking advantage of two places, then maintain two vehicles!.
