[Resolved]  Tata Communications Internet Services Limited — Recovering dues even after years after cancellation of services

I have used Internet services from TATA Communincations Internet Services Limited (TCSILDear Sir,
I have used Internet services from TATA Communincations Internet Services Limited (TCSIL) in the year 2008, but due to the shabby services I have raised a telephonic cancellation request in the month of September 2008. I have applied for a new connection with Airtel in the first week of October 2008. Starting from 11th October, I started using new Airtel connection.

The TCSIL customer call center guys adviced keeping the equipment with us and told that some official will come and take it from us.We kept the equipment aside and started using Airtel since October 11th, 2008. I got a call from billing dept in the month of October to pay the bill for the month of October. I told them that it was cancelled in Sept but to my surprise, the call center staff didn't cancell it then.

I asked them what should I do, for them, to cancel the connection. The call center staff suggested e-mailing it to customer care. I e-mailed (using the e-mail account provided by them - praveeng.[protected]@vsnl.net, which i not accessible to me now) in the 1st week of November raising a request for cancellation. I followed it up with the call and asked how much ever if the outstanding bill, I would pay and close it. I paid the internet charges for the month of october, where in I never used their services. (I already had Airtel services by that time). I thought all is well at that time.

But to my surprise, I got a call in the month of December 2008, stating that i need to pay November bill. I resent the e-mail that I sent to them and asked why the cancellation was not processed. They said that by the time the processing started, the billing cycle of November started. I asked them then why didn't they cancel it in septemeber when I first raised the request. There was no answer. I heeded to their claim and I paid the outstanding amount in the month of december.

I continued to get calls in the month of Jan and Feb of 2009, but they themselves read out the previous call records saying I asked for cancellation. They even confirmed that the account is inactive but not sure why bill is getting generated. Since then I never got a call. But on 3rd Feb, 2010, which is after 1 year, 5 months after I raised a cancellation request, I got a legal notice from TCSIL stating that I owe them some money. They also wanted me to pay the charges inccured for legal documentation.

I want you guys to help me out with this harrasment from TCSIL team. Not sure what their cancellation process is, which even their call center staff is not aware off or could not convey it correctly.

I'm mentally exhausted and not able to do neither my work nor normal routines since the day I got the notice. Please help me.
