Tata Sky falls in the DTH industry which follows the system of grouping channels into packages to derive the advantage of choosing only packs of particular interest and paying exclusively only for them. This is followed by every Co. in the DTH industry hence it is not only Tata Sky following the method of packages for channels. Dth has structured these packs and made them taking into consideration how it can benefit consumers even in the cable industry one cannot say that he wants only 10 exclusive channel and pay only for those as there are a set of many another channels that are included as a whole to view and so in DTH there are set of base channels which act as a primary subscription over and above which one can opt for a add-on or ala carte. With the design of packs it is also seen how a consumer can get the benefit of most of the channels. Like for example a sports add-on pack might be beneficial to a sports viewer but may not be of much importance to other viewers. So the viewers who do not fall in the sports category need not subscribe for the Sports Pack.
