[Resolved]  Tata Sky — Promises are only met to be broken

I would like to bring to notice about the hardship faced by myself in the process of requesting a installation. I have been a happy customer with Tata sky for over 3 years. In fact we have retained the same account in spite of our relocation from Hyderabad to Chennai even though i had several cost effective offers from local cable providers and other dish operators.

However in the recent relocation request, the dish was dismantled on-time but never got installed even after 10 days. Below are the some of the key events which has happened to my complete dissatisfaction.

1. My original request date for re-installation was 29th October. I called Tata sky on 29th morning to inform for reschedule to 30th since there was a heavy down pour of rain at Chennai. A technician was sent on 31st afternoon. He fixed the dish alone and was in a hurry to leave home because he had rest of the day taken off. He informed he could not get signal and a new technician will be sent tomorrow.

2. No one turned up for next few days. However every single day i kept getting SMS indicating that my WO (work order) has been rescheduled. I managed to get the local Tata sky support number but the lady was not helpful. She promised to send a person the next day but even the promise was not full filled.

3. This kept on happening (SMS was timely sent indicating the WO is rescheduled). There was no information indicating as to why it was getting rescheduled.

4. I completely lost patience and started calling the call center (i believe it is in Hyderabad) for help. The call center team gave encouraging words and several promises that a technician will be sent tomorrow and everything will be taken care.
Even this did not help and promises broken. My WO was still getting rescheduled (as this is was the only thing which was happening on time)

5. This kept on happening for 3 - 4 days. I made sure that next time i call the Call center i will ensure to ask the reason why my WO was getting rescheduled. I was really surprised to find out the reason when i called the next day. The reason told to me was "because of power cuts" my installation has to be rescheduled. Kindly note, am living within Mahindra World city SEZ zone where there is 100% power backup provided.

6. Finally i again called on 5th November and informed that i completely lost all confidence of my dish getting installed and informed them to disconnect the service. Mr. Shubar (from call center) promised me again that he has made note in the case log if the dish does not get installed by 6th November evening then he would request for cancellation.

7. The history repeated, no one came on Nov 6th. So i called the call center again and informed them to cancel my account and requested for complete refund.

Note the above agony and sequence of events have really made me to be very stressful.

Kindly note the locality is newly formed and coming up with more than 100+ individual homes. I had discussion with my neighbours and found the same concerns have been echoed by them too. Due to this as a community we planned to avoid Tata Sky and look for other providers preferably Dish network.

To my surprise even the Tata sky technicians who have visited my house earlier have told me that Dish Network offers much better technical support compared to Tata sky. The events which i have faced recently had made the statement TRUE.
