[Resolved] Unitech Limited — Unitech Agra - Refund Fraud

I have invested in the Unitech Agra project in April of 2006 and the project has not started even three years since Unitech started collecting funds towards the project. For the past year I have tried to get my money refunded from Unitech to no avail. Initially I contacted Mr. Amit Bhatia of Shaloo Agencies Gurgaon through whom I had made the investment. Whenever I used to call him he would say the refund will be made available within a month but it never happened. Then in January 2009 he asked me to contact Unitech Limited directly and referred me to Mr. Sameer Ahlawat who works in the Unitech Corporate office in Gurgaon[protected]. The first couple of times I spoke to him he told me that the cheque was made and just needs to be signed by the Finance manager who was not in office. That went on for a month and he finally asked me to contact Mr. Popli or Mr. P.K. Mishra. I call them repeatedly and they were either never available at the office or were in a meeting and could not talk. This seems to me to be a big fraud and I am really disappointed and frustrated by the unprofessional attitude of the Unitech staff and also Shaloo Agencies. At this point it really seems a remote possibility of my getting my money back but would like to warn investors in getting involved with either Unitech Limited or Shaloo Agencies. It seems that there is an organized method to the fraud as the same scenario (no refund after one year, then saying that the cheque is ready to be signed...and then never delivering the cheque to date, etc.) was repeated by Unitech in another city. Apparently, Unitech is nothing but an insolvent entity at this point with no qualms about defrauding good people of their hard earned savings.

I can totally sympathize with you. Unitech has been a big fraud company cheating hundreds of investors and end users. I suggest you go to their office personally and shout in the lobby. It has worked for me. I literally shouted in the lobby where 10-20 potential customers were sitting. It worked and Immediately got attended to very promptly.

I couldn't agree with you more. Millions like you and me, have had the same experience. Just search the internet for all the scams Unitech is involved in all over the country. You'll be horrified!
I haven't had a single, positive interaction with any Unitech employee. All of them are masters at the art and craft of deceit. They stiffly deny any wrong-doing, refuse to listen to you, start accusing you instead and threatening to cancel your allotment, and continue billing you exhorbitant sums of money that are totally unjustified.
Whenever Unitech is caught in an illegal tangle, they blame the recession. When they want investments in their group of companies, then they boast about how well they are doing. They divert funds, they indulge in fraudulent practices. They have tremendous political clout (so if they 'have no money' how do they keep their godfathers happy?) which is probably why they get away with everything possible under the sun.
They're nothing but a bunch of scamsters!
Aggrieved Unitech buyers have formed groups (project-wise) in google groups and other buyers' forums (I personally think an umbrella organization englobing ALL aggrieved Unitech buyers should be formed. We should file a PIL and ask for cancellation of their licence to build or have anything to do with the construction sector. There's strength in numbers. Join up. Perhaps one day justice will prevail.

I think you should not cancel your decision since many big companies collect funds before starting the project the basic idea is to reduce debts take example of RIL Power. Have patience once thing for sure I know is Unitech pays compensation for the delay so don't worry have faith in the company it's the second biggest construction company in India all the best.

I am damn sure not a single allegation made by Mr. Tanav here is true. I have been interacting with Unitech group as a real estate investor and am happy with the service I have received. Speaking about delays, lets face the fact that in current times, every infrastructure and real estate project is being delayed at some point of time. We just have to accept the inevitable and wait for the results. And with Unitech, I am sure the results would be nothing but satisfactory.
