[Resolved] Vodafone — Vodafone sends false expensive bills to customers | |
Vodafone has been sending exceptionally high amount bills on my post paid 2G internet connection and is not willing to reverse the wrong charges.
In Feb 2013, I took a post paid USB stick internet plan for 299 + taxes = Rs. 320 per month from Vodafone. I explained to the store manager Ajay that I wanted a low payment internet connection only. In the first month my services were deactivated for a week without giving any reason. I called the customer support, they said they are updating their database and I will have to wait for 10 days before my case is solved. One customer support even said that my bill amount of 28,000/- is pending.
In the first bill itself Vodafone made clear that they are not interested in meeting eye-to-eye with me. There was internet usage charge of Rs. 28,440.60 out of which I had to pay Rs.500 instead of Rs.320.
I made my due payment of Rs. 300/- after speaking with store manager Ajay. He said that my data pack has not been activated and reassured that those EXTRA charges would be waived off. Rajeev the sales rep. removed the Vodafone software and created a separate dial-up connection on my laptop through which I could connect to the net at very low speeds. He blamed the low speed on traffic congestions and over the limit subscribers!
Next month again I got a bill of Rs. 600 as my request for removal of incorrect charges was not processed . I sent email to Deepak Jain and he never replied back with any resolution. The store manager Ajay told me not to worry as he would take care of it personally and I should deposit Rs. 460/-. I did that and to my surprise my internet services were abruptly stopped without prior intimation within 4 days. I called up customer care and they said you have to pay 2000/- immediately to resume services. I called Rajeev from Vodafone store and he said he would look into the matter and call back but he deliberately kept silent and did not call back as promised. I could not follow my email correspondences and all the efforts to talk to customer care and restore connection went futile. After a month I received a false bill of Rs. 54,713 out of which the total due after discount was Rs. 2,953.
At the time of taking the connection, I was given the understanding that it was a monthly internet plan of Rs.299 + taxes amounting to Rs. 320 only. No extra money was to be paid. But Vodafone was unwilling to implement my data plan as promised and kept sending incorrect bills for mobile broadband. I was shocked to see unimaginable charges again and again. It is a pre-meditated desperate act of Vodafone employees to cheat customers. How can anybody pay internet connection @10p/10kb rate on a dedicated 2g USB stick connection? This is totally unasked for!
To add to the torment, I suffered loss of mental peace and humiliation from customer care. The recovery people have been harassing me on phone and knocking my door many times even though I have told them that their additional charges are irrational and unethical.
Some days ago, I received a legal notice from some advocate (Sunil Sharma) threatening to file a legal case if I don’t pay within 7 days. I am not going to pay them even a rupee now. Let them do the case I am prepared to defend my case and provide all correspondence proofs. The number provided in the letter does not belong to this advocate. Ask Me services could not locate him in the mentioned address either.
It is a shock to know that Vodafone is into money extortion and money laundering through unfair means and would go to any extent to harass its customers. I think it is high time that Vodafone mobile services are stopped in INDIA. They should follow fair business ethics and stop looting the public by raising hidden unfair charges.
I want to warn other people that Vodafone is not the right company to think about when you want a mobile or internet connection.
