DHL Express India — Package on hold post customs clear | |
I sent a package to my parents In Faridabad, Haryana via DHL USA and paid $237 for shipping it. The declared value of the package is $200 and it contains my wedding album and some cosmetics. The shipment cleared customs and was supposed to be delivered last week, on Wednesday, Nov 11th. Upon checking the status on Nov 12th, the online status of the package was changed to “on hold” and DHL generated a receipt requiring the receiver (my parents in this case) to pay INR 28, 640 to get it delivered. Upon contacting DHL India several times, we were informed that they don’t have an individual receipt of customs charged for CBIC. So, in other words, there is no proof of why the customs is two times more than the actually value of package! This is fraud in the name of customs and GST, because the import duty should not exceed 28% if the value of materials shipped is over INR 10000. The package is still on hold and sitting at a DHL facility in New Delhi and the customer care/executive at the location has been of no help. This is to request your assistance in this matter to be able to get the package delivered to my parents who are looking forward to seeing the wedding album and other gifts. Thanks!
