Flipkart — Apple Airpods 4 - Flipkart order Scam

Order Details

I ordered Apple AirPods 4th Generation on Flipkart using Flipkart Pay Later for Rs. 11, 558 on August 10th, 2025. Immediately after placing the order, I noticed two AirPods appearing in my order history, despite only entering the Flipkart Pay Later OTP once and ordering just one unit. This was impossible since ordering twice would have required entering the OTP again. The Pay Later OTP message clearly showed the price for one AirPods (Rs. 11, 558), so I assumed it was a technical glitch and ignored it.

Delivery Day - August 13th, 2025

At around 2:00 PM, the delivery agent called my father’s phone (listed as contact) and arrived at my house. He performed an open-box delivery as expected - opened the package, clicked pictures, and handed it to me. I verified the AirPods authenticity by checking the serial number on Apple’s website, and everything seemed legitimate. I told him “theek hai bhaiya” (it’s fine). However, while I was speaking, he opened his bag again and took out another box. I asked, “bhaiya ye order bhi mera hai?” (Brother, is this order also mine?). He replied, “haan bhaiya 2 hain” (Yes brother, there are 2). I explained, “maine toh bas ek he order kiya tha” (I only ordered one). After checking my phone, he claimed I had somehow ordered two.

Attempted Cancellation

I requested him to cancel the unopened package and deliver only the one in my hand. He agreed, saying “ok sir, I will take this, ” and put it in his bag. He then asked for the delivery OTP. I went to my father’s room, got his phone, and shared the OTP. After saying thank you, he left.

Discovery of the Problem

After he left, I started using the AirPods but decided to check the Flipkart app regarding the cancellation. To my shock, both orders were marked as “delivered.” I immediately called the delivery boy while taking my bike to find him. When I reached him nearby, I explained that the cancelled order was showing as delivered in the app. He simply said, “sir please contact customer care, I can’t do anything.” At that exact moment, he took out the AirPods I had refused (the sealed box) and said, “sir please take these, I can’t do anything.” I protested, “what am I going to do with these? I only ordered one.” He again directed me to contact customer care.

Customer Care Nightmare

First Call The customer care executive said they have a no-return policy and questioned why I took the second order. I explained that since I was being billed for two and he had taken it away, wasn’t it better to retrieve it? She insisted that since I took it, it was considered delivered and she couldn’t help. I pointed out that if I hadn’t tracked him down, he might have kept it while I still got charged. She maintained their no-return policy stance.

Second Call - Senior Executive

After calling again and requesting a senior, I explained everything except initially mentioning I had the sealed AirPods. The senior verified details, saw the open-box delivery pictures, and matched serial numbers. He then conference-called the delivery agent. The delivery agent lied, claiming: “Sir, he shared two OTPs for both items and took both AirPods from me. He never asked for cancellation.” When I revealed I had the sealed box, the senior accused me of lying initially. I explained that if I had admitted to having both boxes upfront, they would have simply said “you ordered two, you got two, what’s the issue?” I pointed out a crucial inconsistency: “If I supposedly received both via open-box delivery with two OTPs, how is one box still sealed while the other is opened?” The senior continued blaming me and maintained their no-return policy.

Third Call - Another Senior

In the evening, I called again and was transferred to another senior who noted everything and called the delivery person. Again, the delivery person claimed I provided two OTPs - one via app and one from SMS on my father’s number.

Conference Call with Delivery Agent

I requested a three-way call with the delivery agent. When confronted: Delivery Agent: “Sir aapne ye nhi bola tha ki cancel krna hai” (You didn’t say to cancel it) and “Sir aapne ek OTP app se btaya aur ek sms” (You gave one OTP via app and one via SMS). Me: “bhaiya maine clearly cancel k liye bola tha aur maine ek OTP he btaya tha jo ki sms pe aaya tha” (Brother, I clearly asked for cancellation and only gave one OTP that came via SMS). Him: “nhi bhaiya” (No brother). Me: “Even if I didn’t explicitly cancel, why did you take it with you instead of telling me you couldn’t take it back?” His Response: “sir maine socha aap confuse honge aur khud he call kr lenge fir mujhse le lenge aa k” (I thought you were confused and would call me later to collect it). My Response: “bhaiya kya ye shi hai krna agar mai confused bhi hu toh aap mere ghar pe wait kr skte the fir decide krte kya krna hai” (Brother, is this right? Even if I was confused, you could have waited at my house to decide what to do). When I asked what he wanted to be done, I said I want to return the sealed AirPods since I didn’t order them initially. Even if I did by mistake, I had cancelled them, which is why he took it back with him. Now that he gave it back to me, I want a full refund and return of the sealed one while keeping the opened one I’m using. The senior said “sorry sir, no return policy, I can’t take these.” Even the delivery agent requested to kindly return it, saying it may have been some confusion and was unintentional, but the Flipkart agent kept saying “sorry sir, I can’t, we have no return policy.”

My Cross-Questions to Flipkart

I then cross-questioned the senior with these logical points: 1. If I ordered two and wanted to take just one I asked for cancellation 2. I just shared one OTP that came on my father’s phone through
SMS 3. If the delivery agent could not cancel it then he should have handed over both to me and why did he take one sealed box back with him… 4. If it was open box delivery then without opening the second box how could he deliver both 5. Even if he used the already unboxed airpods photo and all because they were identical this itself breaks the point of open box delivery as may be the sealed item might have some issue

Flipkart’s Non-Response

To all my questions, which were still a mystery, the senior had no solid answer and just said “sorry sir, I can’t help, no return policy.”

My Demand

I want to return the sealed AirPods for a full refund since I never ordered them initially. Even if there was a mistake, I clearly attempted to cancel, which is why the delivery agent took it back. I will keep the opened AirPods that I’m using. I request everyone to kindly reshare this so that everyone gets aware of these kinds of scams happening.
