[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — Credit Card Settlement Request and Recovery Agent Harassment

Dear Team,

Would like to inform you that I was holding a salary account of HDFC
Bank since 2009...Post which; I also received the credit card of the
same bank and was using/maintaining properly till Feb of this year but
unfortunately I caught up with Typhoid and then continued with
Jaundice due to which I had to quit my Job and went to my home town
for complete bed rest for more than couple of months. After that I
could not pay even the minimum amount dues of the total expense amount
due to jobless till August of this year.

Post getting job, I started paying the EMI's for loan which was taken
in the year 2014 and was not being paid for 3 months from Apr'16 to
Jun'16 but unable to pay the CC dues wherein it was already informed
to HDFC through net-banking portal. They simply informed me about my
remaining dues and asked to pay apart from I did not get any
resolution. Again, in the month of Sept'16, I marked a mail to Bank
for closing my card and requested for settlement, also asked to give
me an option to pay it in installments as I am not financially strong
to pay in one shot. But, again the respond which I got from "RPMC
Senior Management" was bit disappointed as they sent me the settlement
letter to which I never agreed/committed on that high settlement
amount.

And after a month I started receiving calls from Recovery Agents
related to it where they again asked a huge amount which was not
possible to pay due to low salary wages in compare to my last
withdrawn salary which was clearly intimated to them in last mails as
well. And than I asked them to provide me installment option in such a
way so that it would be easy to pay it.

Repeatedly, I am requesting them for installments options so that I
can pay the whole amount and clear all my dues to close the same but
they were still asking for the same amount in one shot.

Initially, this month I was in touch with a female Recovery agent for
settlement related and were discussing on the amount to be paid and
also I've informed her not to call between 11 AM to 5 PM as phone
never remains with me at that time. Last time she called me from
landline no. once on last Saturday and Yesterday but I missed to pick
the call otherwise I never fails to pick up any call apart from rare
time.However, we had a last conversation stating that
she would get back to me for negotiation of the amount.

But now, from last couple of days, one recovery agent named Mr. Joseph
calling and threatening on call along with abusive
language which are legally and ethically against the Human Rights and
Indian Penal Code. Last time, while writing few mail, it was already
informed to HDFC but still I am getting threatening calls.He shouted
and asked me to submit 75 K in an hour or else he would call my
parents and my relatives to abuse them and will ask to pay the same.

I know; now a days technology is very vast to get any ones contact
number but I don't think it's fair to find any females' contact to
tease, threaten or abuse them wherein they are no where into the
role/picture. If their deal is with me than be it with me only as you
all have never taken any permission or confirmation or consent,
neither they are any guarantor for this.

I would request you to kindly look into the matter and advice on the
same as I have never denied to pay it and I don't how they are
portraying my details of all the conversations I had til now with them
so kindly let me where should I complaint related to this to get rid
off as presently I am very much afraid of these calls and truly
speaking I am not able to do any activity with this reminder calls.

If my intention was not to pay; I would have never write a mail to
them or shared my contact number neither I would have picked any call
after knowing its from Bank. Everyday, I am speaking with them everyday
might take hard decision, i.e. better to suicide rather than listening
those abusive languages or should I go through legal procedures so that
I can get free from mental harassment due to which I am not able to do
anything in life.

I would request you to get back to me as I am not in a situation take
any of the recovery agents (HDFC credit card) third party rather than
picking HDFC's people call. For settlement of credit card I don't want
to go through these agents as I am getting very much afraid.
