[Resolved] HDFC Bank — demat account charges - even though i never wanted a demat account | |
Kind attn. Mr. Aditya purimr hdfc/ senior management hdfc bank I am a preferred customer with hdfc bank in secunderabad. Although, i never asked, these guys opened a demat account which remains totally unutilized for last 5-6 years or possibly more. For last 1 year, these hdfc people, started deducting charges, which when i noticed, i raised a compliant. They initially reversed those charges and subsequenty i find sms coming to me and a proper letter coming from their mumbai branch threatening to hold my other account with hdfc with charges of rs 885. I had personaly reported about this to the branch relationship manager also, but nothing happened. I already asked them to close the demat account which is first place is useless for me and unasked for. Why should i pay for something which i never asked for. Also i find that in the name of charges - hdfc is charging upto 1000. This is atrocious. I hope that competent authority in india must take such required actions to curb hdfc When hdfc does not pay intrest of 1000 on a deposit of 10000, then how can they deduct so much. Looks hdfc wants to send a signal that it is only meant for high networth individuals and not common man. Being preferred, i was told that can have my extended family members account connected to my account id and that no one needs to maintain any minimum balance as my account has large balance. But to my surprise, hdfc took away more than 8000 rs as deduction towards charges and closed my extended family account on their own. Why did they not close the demat account then. And worst part - they said they are doing all these as per rbi guideline? Has the rbi become so unconcerned. Has rbi given a blank orders to hdfc to loot people. Can the income tax ask come up wit the revenue generation by these unscrupulous means of hdfc bank Good that i never did any transaction-else they would have held my account to ransom. When contacted, the relationship manager showed a sorry face and promised to do something, but never did. I can imagine, if this happens to a preferred customer, what would be the plight of common man. Mr aditya puri sir - i have been banking with other banks for more than 20 years now, i have not seen such behavior. What ethics do we talk about. Can someone let me know what is the basis of such high charges to be maintained in electronic form. On-one hand the indian government is driving for digital india and on the other hand, you guys are discouraging the digital india drive by these not justifiable charges and accounts which customer does not need.
