I held a Salary Account with HDFC Bank (A/c No. XXXX4526). After I left my employer, the account was auto-converted to a regular Savings Account, which carries a minimum Average Monthly Balance (AMB) requirement — unlike salary accounts, which typically have no AMB requirement while the salary credit continues.
I was not informed at the time that this conversion had occurred, nor was I clearly notified that the AMB requirement had increased from ₹5, 000 to ₹10, 000. Shortly after, I relocated to Canada for work and was unable to actively monitor or maintain the account.
Over the following months, HDFC Bank levied recurring non-maintenance charges nearly every month without adequate prior notice reaching me, cumulatively deducting approximately ₹9, 500 from the account — reducing the balance to near zero.
I am requesting:
A refund/reversal of the non-maintenance charges levied, given the lack of clear notice of the salary-to-savings conversion and the AMB threshold change.
Confirmation of when and why the AMB requirement changed from ₹5, 000 to ₹10, 000 on this account. Was this information helpful? |
