I am using ICICI credit card since last 7 years and make manual payments before due date.
I have been paying the minimum amount due since Aug'23 and the auto debit was activated by the bank for Total amount due. I have been charged a hefty amount of Rs. 1, 05, 522/- as the auto debit return fee since Aug'22 till Apr'23 (Apart from Dec'22) When I enquired about these charges bank said that I have auto debit facility opted on my account and due to insufficient funds charges in my linked savings bank account.
I clearly told bank:
1. I never opted for Auto debit how come it was applied automatically. They don't have any proof to show ...no KYC document and No request number.
2. I have been calling the customer care on various days and all I hear from them is that they cannot refund the amount. Some are even saying that the Bank is not responsible for any such deductions. (I have discussed the issue with the manager of the customer service team named Suresh, Who is manager of Jayshree but without a resolution- Chennai customer care service). There were many other who disconnected the call after some time.
I have been pressurized to pay these charges without any fault of mine.
Have called several times and asked them to raise a ticket and all they do is close the ticket without any intimation.
Please assist me out. I am not going to pay these charges at any cost.
Will switch to other bank as soon as possible.
