ICICI Bank — credit card fraudulent charges

I own a credit card of icici bank since last 5 years. Last month (December 2017)i got an email from ICICI bank stating that my card is eligible for some festive emi offer to which i have to message EMIFESTIVE from my number on the specified number in the email. I showed my interest for the offer and messaged 3 -4 times. I even placed a call on the ICICI customer care number. They assured me that the concerned persons will call me.

On 5th of jan 2018, I received a call from ICICI executive who confirmed me about the conversion of 3 transactions amounting to around Rs. 60000 into emi and told me about how much extra will be paid. She told me that conversion will take around 3 days. On asking about how much payment to be made on my credit card as my due date was approaching. she told me that as the total amount converted to emi is much higher than the total amount due on card i do not need to make any payment.

On 7 th jan 2018(Due date to make payment of credit card) I called icici executive who told me that the emi has not yet been converted and she is escalating the issue and advised me to make MAD payment to avoid charges levied by bank. I immediately complied and made the MAD payment.

Further after repeated calls i was reassured again and again that i dont need to worry and emi processing will be done.

After few days on one call i was told that 2 transactions cannot be converted to emi as they are 45 days old.

On receiving the successive statement i was shocked that i have been charged with interest charges Rs. 1896+ Rs. 341 as GST on interest. I again called them and the executive told me that she had again escalated the issue regarding EMI conversion and she will request for waiving of interest charges.

Further 1 more transaction was converted to emi.

Meanwhile i also emailed for level 1 complaint centre.

I received a reply that as the payment was overdue due to non conversion of emi 3% charges have been levied and " as a one-time service gesture" they reverted rs 795 charged as interest.

I dont know where is my fault that i need to pay charges.
It is just due to sheer negligence of bank that i have to pay charges.

Is it my duty to call them repeatedly to know the status of conversion of EMI but bank executives always gave me one reply that you need not to worry we are looking into the issue.

They are just doing fraud by making the customer wait and then charging them exorbitant interest.
