ICICI Bank — demat account closure procedure

I believe you will read through this email and respond unlike usual customer care people replying a standard template.

Please find below my details :

As i was not transacting any shares, i approached icici direct, saligramam branch in 2014 regarding demat account closure. They asked me to give a bsda request, so that i ll not be charged any annual maintenance if the total trade is below inr 50000. Hence i gave the request.

In 2015, i was charged around inr 600 for demat account maintenance. As i relocated myself the medavakkam, i checked with velachery branch on this and they told, there is no bsda request given in this account. Looks like the previous guys missed it completely. I again gave the same request in velachery branch and asked for an acknowledgement. They told there will not be any acknowledgement for this. I got the acknowledgement for bsda confirmation in email.

In 2016, i was again charged around inr 600 for demat account maintenance. I was shocked and approached medavakkam branch to close my demat account in frustration. They asked me to give a bsda request and i refused it and asked them to close my demat account with icici. They took the request and told i ll receive sms in the next 10 days and i received the confirmation too.

In 2017, i was again charged around inr 600 for demat account maintenance. I was really frustrated and wrote a letter to customer care enquiring my account closure and bsda requests. But these people are sending me forms to close the account and asking me to approach the nearest branch.

I am totally confused and frustrated with the replies for my back and forth emails. They say my trading account is closed and not the demat account, hence there will be charges. They say the bsda would have been cancelled is there is any fradulent activity found (There is no or very less transaction in my account. If there is any cancellation in bsda, it should have been informed to me). As a customer i wanted to close my demat account and i gave the request. Its not necessary for me know about your different accounts. Its your responsibility to close them. If you are not doing it, how can you expect me to pay for these irritating things. I had paid around inr 2000 so far and trying to close your account for the past three years. Is this the service you provide to your customers?

I want the charges i paid so far to be refunded and this account to be closed. If i go and close this account, you will say some reason and charge saying xyz and the account will not be closed : (
