ICICI Bank — lien marked on bank account without any intimation before due date

Hi team,

I wish to lodge a complaint against icici bank for marking a lien on my savings bank account for total amount due without any prior intimation whatsoever for the recovery of credit card dues. This lien has been marked on my account 01 day before the payment due date which is 11th september.

I was enrolled in a moratorium until july 31st (Attached reference). August's statement was generated with a due date of 11th september with a minimum amount due more than 50% of the total credit limit, basically punishing me for availing the moratorium. I have credit cards from other banks with double the credit limit on this one but have never been asked to pay a minimum amount due of 50% of the credit limit which in itself if absurd. Icici bank has dumped all the compounded interest + overlimit fees + charges + fees all at once and expects me to clear it before the due date. That's almost my 1-month salary.

I did speak to one of the collection executive few days back and discussed about this. I was asked to try and make some payment to which i agreed. However, to my surprise, the bank seems to have blocked and removed my card and has pushed the total amount due as a lien against my bank account even before i could make any payments. That was all the money i had left for this month for my expenses and other payments.

I spoke with two gentlemen from credit card and loan department who go by name ajeet and kundu and they did not answer my query about marking a lien before the due date. Their answer is "it is just one day before. What difference does it make. You can clear the total amount due marked on your account and we will release the lien". How can i be expected to make one shot payment for total amount due? They said it is as per their 'bank policies' and they can't do anything. This is exploitation!

As i said i have other bank accounts and credit cards as well but have never came across such behavior from anyone. Icici bank's arrogance is well known. This behaviour has forced me to close all my relationships with this bank.

Please help me understand what action can i take against this bank and how do i report this robbery to concerned authorities.in these times, these banks are robbing people as they want and it is absolutely pathetic to say the least!!
