[Resolved]  ICICI Bank — Pre payment of home loan does not reflect in the account status

I submitted a part payment request for my Home Loan account on 28th January 2021.

- Loan Amount disbursed: 42, 00, 000
- Remaining Tenure - 102 months
- Remaining loan amount due: Rs. 25, 11, 544
- EMI amount - Rs. 50, 418
- Prepayment: Rs.10, 00, 000 done on 28th January

At the time of visit, I was informed that once the rate of interest change is applied, the EMI amount per month will change to approx. Rs.20, 155. Loan tenure to be the same as 102.

But on 5th Feb, an EMI amount of Rs. 32, 504 was deducted from my account. The remaining loan amount due still showed Rs. 25, 11, 544 and tenure still is 101 months.

I was charged a higher EMI amount inspite of making the part payment. The balance after making the pre-part payment is still not updated anywhere in the system. There is no mention of what happened to the 10 lakhs we paid on 28th January.

I wrote to their customer care several times but all I received were automated emails with no resolution or clarity on what's happening and how long it is going to take for the correct amount to reflect in the account.

My father visited the branch at least 4 times and was assured that the query will be resolved by the next day and it's 15 days since but no resolution.

Phone follow ups, personal branch visits and email follow ups have been to no avail.
