ICICI Direct — Trading account

Hi Team,

I would like to bring this to your notice that I have been mis-guided and made me open a demat account.

I have been informed by the representative of ICICI branch RTC cross roads that I have been charged a fees for not maintaining minimum balance on savings account and suggested to open a demat and buy stocks which in turn helps me even if you don't maintain a minimum balance, no fees would be applied however they didn't clearly explained the terms and fees details for ICICI Bank investment account.

Everything was done in few minutes, the agent spoke to person from investments department and arranged a call and everything was setup.

They didn't inform that their is a platform fees or any other charges if that applied if I don't buy stock on the investment account. The two agents rushed me to open the investment account without providing proper knowledge, it is unfair selling practice. Now I could see that their is a debit balance of 826 rupees on investment account and every day nse alerts sends an email about this debit balance. I really don't understand what is debit balance is for and why I been getting charged. It's totally you employee negligence I have been charged this amount. I already have a trading account with different company the only reason I have opened this account because your employee advised I don't get charged fees on my saving accounts.

It is an awful experience and would like this to be corrected please and ensure no other customer get impacted similar way as I did with your rush to sell the products to the customer. This is treating customers unfair and non transperant behaviour which is not acceptable.

I have contacted the head of customer services and explained everything, requested to close the account however no use.. they have advise few online steps which didn't work because I live abroad and everytime the agent suggest me to visit branch how feasible for a person to return from abroad to close an account. I have told them multiple times that I cannot visit the branch still they repeat the same visit the branch and close account. I really don't understand with growing technology everything seems to be easily accesable and provide better service to the customer but icici services are even wrost. I sent my family to visit branch to close the accoutn and took branch manager number to close the account no luck. it is really frustrating.. last year I tried contacting icici through email and sent first email in april 2024 since then I am strugging to close the account. hope forum may help me.
