[Resolved]  LG Electronics — 42inch LG80FR LCD TV Problem

Address:Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

My complaint Number is RNA[protected]. I raised my complaint in the last week of October and I am still awaiting a resolution for my complaint. The original problem with my TV was that it lost volume on starting up and I had to manually turn it on from the menus. An LG service engineer visited my place since I have an AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) and after inspecting the TV set, informed me that the motherboard of the TV needs to be replaced. He told me that they would raise a request from the company to provide the necessary parts required to repair the TV set but after two weeks of calling several times, I was informed that the part is not available with the company and that they would pay me a compensation. After another two - three weeks of calling them up repeatedly they informed that the company has decided that they will pay me a sum of Rs.15000 since they did not have the part required for repair. After a week when I'd called to follow up the case, they inform me that they will also take away my TV in return of the compensation. Now when I tell them that I do not want to, what is effectively sell them my 42 " LCD TV to them for Rs.15000, they tell me that I have no other option other than doing that since they have stopped manufacturing the part. Why did LG give me an Annual Maintenance Contract for which I had to pay Rs.4346 for a TV whose parts they had stopped manufacturing in the first place? What I would like from LG is to repair my TV since I have it covered under their Annual Maintenance Contract and I have no interest in selling them my TV for Rs.15000. They are not doing anything but stalling my case and my AMC ends on the 4th of January 2014 This is the worst ever customer care experience I have ever had. I have already spoken to the following regarding this case Mr Amarnath The LG area Manager for the TVs section for Hyderabad, Ms. Rajitha The LG Customer Care Officer for Hyderabad, Mr. Sai Venkat The LG Service Center Area Manager None of them have been helpful neither friendly. They are all rude, and never get back after several promises that they "would definitely call back". I had to keep calling them up to get the status of my case.

When will your concerned department respond and how much time does "shortly" mean?
Pheonix Leonardo - I hope your issue was "truly" resolved.

I just encountered poor service from LG too... bad technicians - full of attitude... & a mindless ring manager - Sai Venkat - LG Hyderabad Area Service Manager. I have given up hope.

Derek.
Hello Derek,

My issue was anything but resolved. As you can read from my message, they had offered to "buy back" my 42" inch TV for Rs.15000. That was the only option they'd given me. After refusing to sell it to LG, I got ready to sell it off as scrap. Luckily I found a mechanic who repaired it and also replaced the motherboard that LG told me "was not available anywhere in India, not even in their headquarters since the production had stopped". The mechanic charged me Rs.8000 but the TV is as good as new and still working great. I still do not understand how a third party TV service guy managed to replace a part that LG said was out of production. The mechanic told me that they had seen a lot of customers who faced the same problem from LG and that the motherboards ARE available. But the incompetent at LG

If I had given up and sold the TV to LG, not only would it have been a huge loss, but I would again have to spend around 50-60000 rupees to buy a new TV.

They have the worst customer care and totally incompetent staff.
Hey,

Can I know who fixed your tv?
Coz I have a similar problem with my tv and LG does not have the parts.

It's this same tv I have.
