My MTNL Lanline number is 25129562.I have been your customer for 25 years. My tarriff plan is DSL399 Combo 2M which I am told provides for speed upto 6MBps. What I am getting as per test results was only 3.4 MBps as on 24.12.2021.On not finding any change in the internet speed from the 3 Mbps odd, I applied for a shift to a higher Billing Plan to get greater speed. The request was registered as[protected] on 3rd January 2022.January 11th 2022:
A reminder was sent for a shift to a higher Billing Plan to obtain more internet speed. A reply received from MTNL on 18.1.22 stated that the
Plan change w/o status is under provision and it pending with Mr Gaurav Sir DM(GKP) DT.[protected].
Ghatkopar MTNL Office vide Mr Pandey, attempted to test higher speeds and was able to touch 5 Mbps, but not more. On January 22nd 2022, it was confirmed by Mr Pandey, that he was not able to go beyond 5 Mbps. Therefore, on 23rd January 2022, I requested MTNL to revert back to the old Billing Plan of DSL 399 COMBO 6M .
On 24.1.22, I decided to opt for Airtel Fibre, which promised double digit internet speeds. It was installed on 24.1.2022 and it delivered almost treble the speed provided by MTNL at a fraction of the cost charged by MTNL. I still retained the MTNL connection for sentimental reasons and to maintain relationship of 25 years.
Within an hour of the AIRTEL fibre being installed on 24.1.22, I received this message from MTNL.
"Broadband Plan change w/o no. 93/94 dt. 24.01.2022 issued"
The Work Order to change the billing plan which was applied for on 3rd January 2022, and which was never forthcoming, for nearly 3 weeks, suddenly was issued within an hour of Airtel installing the Fibre in my flat and 24 hours after I requested cancellation of the change in Billing Plan, on January 23rd 2022, due to stated inability of MTNL to provide higher internet speeds.!!!
This was followed up by Mr Gaurav, DGM of Manecklal Estate Ghatkopar Office, MTNL, who moved now with lightning speed, asking me to confirm the internet speed. IGNORING THE FACT THAT I had cancelled the request for a change in Billing Plan and requested reversal to the old billing plan of DSL 399 COMBO 6M on January 23rd 2022, the previous day.The speed was still 5 Mbps and a fraction of what Airtel was offering, at half that price. On 24.1.22 at around 22. hrs I replied to Mr Gaurav of MTNL Ghatkopar, "Please CANCEL. Speed is still 5MBps. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY LINE DOES NOT SUPPORT10MBps. SPEED TEST SAYS 5 MBPS. EVEN NOW. PLEASE CANCEL AND REVERT TO PREVIOUS BILLING PLAN".
MTNL HAS REFUSED TO REVERT TO THE OLD BILLING PLAN AND CONTINUES TO BILL ME ON A BILLING PLAN WHICH I DECLINED, ASKED FOR REVERSAL AND ON WHICH THEY TECHNICALLY CANNOT DELIVER THE INTERNET SPEEDS REQUIRED.
