[Resolved]  Mahindra And Mahindra — tuv 300 starting problem

I own a tuv300 t8 amt since 13 april 2015. I purchased this car with utmost excitement and i had always liked it since launch. But now i think purchasing this car was a wrong decision and i have committed a blunder.
My car was a week older when its transmission started giving problems. Mid way in the road it used to stop responding. 2-3 times i had to take it to mahindra's service centre at speedlinks panchkula but they said all is well. It was finally they took it seriously when i dropped the keys and said i don't need this car, keep it with you. Then the problem was rectified.
Now i am facing starting problem. This problem is going on for the last 2-3 months. I got the car serviced for 30000 kms at snowview automobiles, baddi and told them the problem, but the problem was not rectified. Then i took it to speedlinks panchkula twice. The car was kept under observation for 3 days. Finally they told me that i have to press the brake pedal repeatedly before starting the car to create pressure and this has also not worked. But, does pressing every time before starting the car make sense? The problem could not be diagnosed. So this is the way out i am being told. Such unusual problems and the inability to diagnose and rectify them is shaking my faith in mahindra. I tried to contact mahindra through their group communications e-mail id and gm (Service) at speedlinks panchkula. I only got a call from speedlinks panchkula that my car shall be called to the service centre to rectify the problem. But nothing has happened so far. Now i am forced to take legal action in this regard.

I do own a similiar vehicle and have done 38k. I have started facing similiar problem with regard to starting the ignition. At times, the vehicle would not start and makes loud gharrr gharrr sound but does not start. Then after waiting for some time say five minutes to fifteen minutes, I try again and it starts. I took my vehicle to Sri Durga automobiles, Moti Nagar, Delhi where I had got the services done. They suggest that this is to do with battery and I must change the battery but I wonder if this would resolve the problem. Can anyone suggest how to resolve this problem as Mahindra people are only making guess works.

Sir, was your problem resolved byb replacing the battery as suggested by the service centre? I am eager to know as I am facing similar issue with my TUV T8-AS which has merely done 16K kms now.
Kaevaiphei's reply, May 3, 2022
I think I've found a fix after the starting problem troubled me for over a year. I changed the Temperature Sensor and it's fine for now. The mechanic told me that because of the faulty temperature sensor, it gave a false info to the engine that it was too hot so it couldn't start.

For a short term fix, if you can't start it after stopping on the roadside etc, then just remove the temperature sensor and then try to start, then put the sensor back after starting, it worked for me untill I could actually change the sensor.
I have done 16K on my TUV 300 AS. Recently, I have started facing problem with regard to ignition of the engine. At times, the vehicle would not start and makes loud knocking sound with lots of vibration but fails to start. After few attempts or waiting for some time say five minutes, if re-tried, the engine starts. While browsing for the related issue on this site, I came across with a similar complaint from one Mr Kamal Arora dated 16th Aug 2018, where I could find that the probable cause as suggested by his service centre was "Faulty Battery". So is this the solution of such serious issue with a new vehicle? Can anyone suggest how to resolve this problem as Mahindra people are only making guess works.

Hi,

I own a TUV 300 T8 2016 model, i have a huge problem with Engine, car suddenly stops and engine would not start and their would be an Engine lap on the display, i have been facing this issue for over and year now, every time i toe the car, they plug in the Lap top and then keep the car for 2 days and say problem is resolved, but today it happened again. I desperately need some one from Mahindra to look into the issue, you cannot just disown your customers and leave us at the mercy of Service station staff. need help Please

right now Car is with VVc motors Hitech city - [protected]@yahoo.com
I own a TUV 300 T8 which is done 40000 km..have done all scheduled servicing but the starting problem with huge ghhrr noise and heavy shaking has been there all through since last 2 years when the vehicle was done only about 20000 km,
I have reported this problem in every schedule service but have got no resolution till date.
Everytime this problem comes, I wait for 4-5 mins and then start the vehicle and it starts. Recently during the lockdown period I had to go some distance to get Groccery. I reached the location and when tried to start the vehicle to come back the car would not start. This time I kept trying to start every 5 mins for over 1 hour. Everytime I tried there was this huge vibration and ghrr noise. I had to leave the car there as it did not start . I went back in the evening and the car started at the first try itself.
I have now lost faith in capability of the Service team / Mahindra technical team who after so many complaints for the same problem from multiple customers have not been able to find a solution. I have not seen one comment from them where they have admitted this as a regular problem in TUV300s or have ever given a reason for this or a solution to this.
I bought tuv 300 on 2015... From the day i got i been saying this complaint to coimbatore showroom eventually we moved to tripur.. Im doing service every time im noticed starting complaint... Wen ignition is on.. Car engine shakes well and turned off.. Could any 1 help through this issue its a manufacturing defect.. I changed my battery as well 3 to 5 times complained they monitor the carb3 days in show room still not satisfied..

Hi,

My Mahindra TUV300 T8 AMT 2016 has not even done 10000kms. All essential services have been done.

Now the vehicle has starting problems on ignition, lots of rattling like a rundown old engine, and not starting. Even after repeated attempts on ignition it fails to start. But After leaving it aside for couple of hours it then starts on the first ignition itself.

This definitely cannot be attributed to battery.

Useless car which is not worth half of ₹11.5 L paid. Mahindra has customers' money and so isn't bothered to resolve known issues. They could have issued recalls to solve these issues and maintained customer confidence. But they choose not to.

Service centre is going by the books and has first done software flashing/purging. They too are not interested in solving issues.
I have a tuv300 t6 (2017) and i facing same problem in my vehicle after service of 30k .Every valuable customers is complaining same problem, So why Mahindra and Mahindra don't recall all the vehicle of Tuv300 and replace it's specific part and make sure to build his reliability in all Mahindra customers heart. Becoz if problem is universal then Mahindra is only responsible for all the concerned.
I am having the same starting problem with my mahindra TUV as i have read lots of owners complaining about this problem and that the company fails to pin point the problem, I do not think its the problem with the battery, as the battery can still crank the engine very strong, this lead me to thinking that it is an electrical ignition issue with some kind of faulty switch.
I also have same issue with my car. Inspite of couple of starts and waiting for 5 mins for each time the vehicle was not starting. Facing this issue for last one year, have changed the battery also. But the problem still persist. I seriously urge engineering team M&M to look in to the issue and resolve at the earliest.

is this fixed?
Really feel bad for myself, I use to own a Honda city AT 2009 model which never ever gave me a problem in 10.yr...but I made a wrong decision going for Mahindra tuv. 300 At t8...from the day I brought I have face several issues.. I was not having enough money to buy, but I was hearing lot about Mahindra, so I decided to take loan and buy this vechile, but I m totally disappointed with it, don't understand what mahindra can do regarding this issue, every couple running month there is some issues or another, now the dealership saying you need to change the starter, , it's just 22500 Kms done... It's like I have made the wrongest decision of my life, with do respect I will ask Anand Mahindra Sir to solve this issue.. Thanks...

Hi
Actually there is no problem with starter motor. The company fitted Battery of 65 Ah is not sufficient for this vehicle. It will not give sufficient Ampere to the electrical circute provided (May be it give smooth start when vehicle and battery is new) There may be a problem will arise when the vehicle will get older. But if you continue on same cranking problem with low Ah battery then the starter motor will get damaged. You can service it from a good and experienced repair shop for maximum of Rs 2000.00 or do a replacement from authorized work shop will cost Rs 9000.00 aprox. Better to change the battery with a 80 Ah (minimum) Before replacement you should check the charging volt of Alternator.

Going through the comments its learnt that the given problem is comman to all TUV models. I also owned a 2016 model T6. 6 motns back I change the battery with the same specification i.e. 65Ah. At that time also cranking problem was there but after 2 to 3 minutes of waiting vehicle will start normally. Then the duration of waiting was increased to more than 1 hr. The problem always occurs only after a running and engine heat up. Always there is no problem in starting at morning. 3weeks back the same problem occurred while traveling with my family at night in Coimbatore. On calling a service personal came and start the vehicle without any effort(Due to cooling of engine) according to him there is similar problem with most of the TUV, Bolero even with New Neo. This is due to low Ah of battery and suggest to replace the battery with new one if problem persist. Last week I went to Kerala for a holiday with my family and the same problem repeated and I contacted many Mahindra service centers but not get service due to long Onam holidays. After a long search one workshop suggest me that the problem is with starting motor and I also agree to service the starting motor. After fitting of serviced motor there is a smooth startup but the problem of cranking is not rectified. Then they suggest me to replace the Fly wheel assembly. In the meanwhile I talked with my Auto electrician friends at Calicut and Mannar. According to them there may be a overcharging of the battery and ask me to check with another battery. On checking the charging from the alternator was shown a voltage of 14.2. Further we decided to change the battery with a 80Ah one. After changing the battery there is no cranking and vehicle is getting started smoothly. This is my experience. Friends requested to kindly share your suggestions...

regards
