Updated by Saranya_SS Urgent: Escalation of Booking Refund Request due to IMD's Orange Weather Alert – Booking ID: NH[protected]
?Dear MakeMyTrip and Abad Copper Castle Hill Valley Resort Management,
?I am writing to formally escalate a critical grievance regarding Booking ID: NH[protected] (Munnar, June 4 – June 8, 2026). We are demanding a full refund of ?25, 891 due to a severe natural calamity warning and highly contradictory, misleading customer service from both parties.
?The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Alert for the Idukki district from June 4 to June 7, warning of heavy rainfall and a high risk of landslides in the Munnar region. Having personally been affected by the devastating Wayanad landslide incident, I refused to put my family’s lives at risk for a vacation.
?We tried to utilize MMT’s emergency cancellation feature specifically designed for natural calamities, death and emergency. What followed was a highly stressful and deceptive experience:
?--MMT Support claimed the resort needed to approve the refund.
?--The Resort informed us they approved a partial 2-day refund. We were also okay with it.
?--MMT Support confirmed receipt of this approval and promised a refund within 48–72 hours.
?After 3 days, MMT abruptly emailed us stating the resort rejected the refund, citing a "non-refundable policy." MMT agents then backtracked, claiming they never received any approval email from the hotel.
?This endless blame game and passing of the buck has caused us immense mental agony. If MakeMyTrip provides a specific policy loop for "natural calamities and emergencies, " it must be honored. Forcing tourists to choose between losing ?25, 891 of hard-earned money or risking their lives in a landslide-prone zone under an active IMD Orange Alert is entirely unethical.
?We require a full refund of our money immediately. If this is not resolved promptly, we will take this matter to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) and public forums.
Instead of a transparent process, we were subjected to a 10 days loop of misinformation.
Holding a customer's money (?25, 891) hostage when an official government body issues a weather warning is deeply unethical. It forces travelers to risk their lives to avoid financial loss. Both companies have shown zero accountability, and I am seeking legal intervention through the Consumer Forum for a full refund and compensation for mental harassment. Have some accountability.

?Dear MakeMyTrip Support and Abad Copper Castle Hill Valley Resort Management,
?I am writing to formally escalate a critical grievance regarding Booking ID: NH[protected] (Munnar, June 4 – June 8, 2026). We require a full refund of ?25, 891 due to an official government weather warning and highly contradictory, misleading customer service from both parties.
?The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Alert for the Idukki district during our travel dates, warning of heavy rainfall and a high risk of landslides in the Munnar region. As I am traumatized by the previous Wayanad landslide, we refused to risk our lives for a vacation.
?We attempted to utilize MMT’s emergency cancellation feature, which is explicitly designed for natural calamities. Instead of a transparent process, we were subjected to a 10-day loop of misinformation and buck-passing:
--?MMT Support claimed the resort needed to approve the refund.
--?The Resort Management informed us they had approved a partial 2-day refund (which we agreed to accept at the time).
?--MMT Support confirmed receipt of this approval and explicitly promised a refund within 48–72 hours.
?After 10 days, MMT abruptly changed its stance, claiming the resort had rejected the refund based on a "non-refundable policy, " and that no approval email had ever been received.
?Forcing tourists to choose between losing ?25, 891 or risking their lives in a landslide-prone zone under an active government alert is entirely unethical. If MakeMyTrip provides a policy for "natural calamities and emergencies, " it must be honored
?Our Demand:
We require a full refund of ?25, 891 to be processed immediately.
?If this matter is not resolved promptly, we will file a formal complaint with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) for a full refund and compensation for mental harassment. We will also escalate this matter across public and social media forums to highlight this complete lack of accountability.
?We expect your immediate response with a resolution.
