As far as I know the maximum retail price (which is inclusive of the VAT) of an item is supposed to be shown in an advertisement. In this case Mcdonald's advertisements are very misleading. They show a burger costing only Rs.25 in the ad whereas if you buy the same burger at any Mcdonald eatery or franchisee it will cost you around Rs. 34. On being asked the man behind the counter will say that the extra money is the VAT. Thia is a wrong practise as they should be showing the correct amount inclusive of the Vat in the ad itself. Most people neglect this fact but this is in public interest and action should be taken upon it. Was this information helpful? |
