Hi,

I stayed with nestaway for more than 1 year in bangalore, indiranagar, I moved out on 28 october 2020. And requested for refund of the security deposit. First i got reply that it will be refunded soon. Now i got the response from nestaway that:

The rental agreement is between you and the owner and as per the agreement, the deposit resides with the owner during your stay - we collect it and pass it on to the owner when you move in. Upon your move out, our job is to submit a settlement report to the owner and advise any valid deposit deductions. It is the owner's responsibility to pay you the remaining SD amount after deduction. We, on your behalf, are following up with the owner and in this case, he is taking time to refund it. We request your patience in this matter.
The amount due to you is Rs.50, 866 after valid deductions which we will transfer to you as soon as we receive it from the owner.

My understanding was that the agreement is between me and the owner, but nestaway is acting as the negotiator on my behalf have to get it from the owner and transfer it to me as soon as i vacate the property.

Am i wrong in assuming above?
