On the 18th of April, 2023. I was scammed by a fraud with a Transaction of INR 24, 311.52/- made to NoBroker.com via my RBL Bank Credit Card.
Details of the Transaction are attached in the images. The scammer made a telephone call to me under the pretext of being from the bank and asked for permission to upgrade the credit limit on my card. The card issued to me under this conversation was only 2 months old and I was taken by surprise with the kind of details the scammer had - They were in possession of my entire 16 digits of the card no, my PAN no, my Address and also the last billing amount of my credit card. On listening to all this information, for a second I got to believe that the call was from the bank. At last when they asked for an OTP to confirm the upgrade, I realized there was something wrong and I hung up the call immediately without giving the OTP, although they tried calling me back to back for 4 more times, I did not answer but they still managed to complete the transaction. I called up the Bank and they said that since you have immediately reported the fraudulent transaction, be rest assured we will do the needful and revert it. All they asked me was to file a police complaint on the cyber crime website online and furnish a copy of the same to the vigilance team at the bank. Cut to July, 2023, I received a call from the local police station where the case was registered, they received an UPDATE about the case in JULY - that is how fast the system works, the officer asked me about the status and I said the bank is yet to revert on this. He then said, be rest assured the bank will get this sorted and closed the complaint on their end! 8-10 days later, on the 22nd of July, I get a call from RBL Bank, stating that our investigation is over and that we feel the transaction was legal and cannot do anything about it! On hearing this I personally go to the same local police station that closed the case. They say you should have come in earlier and that an online FIR wasn't sufficient! I am shocked, how is that complaint filed on the official website of cyber crime not taken seriously. Now since everyone has closed the Case - NOBroker is also denying a refund. I am stuck, what to do.
