[Resolved]  Royal Enfield — Chain sprocket damage - New classic 350

Hi iam sanjeev from chennai, same complaint here. My classic 350 chain sproket has been damaged by 12000 km itself. The bike being double cost of other bikes, has wear and tear so quickly is not at all tolerable to us. The chain set should run upto at least 35000 to 40000 km as in case of other bikes.
Moreover, the steel parts of the body have very quick rusting, indicating the worst quality of materials used.
All its parts are being manufactured in chennai in small foundries and supplied to Royal enfield to assemble.
I feel Make in India concept does not result in quality, since here is no quality mind.
We Indians are cheating ourselves.

I have classic 350 and completed 25k kms in 28 months. 10 days before first it was making noisy in the sprocket and told service agents abt this but they did nothing & simply put lube oil & they gave. Again i got same problem on same day. So visited service center again they did nothing & even didn't said what was the issue. So when i check after 10 dayes there was no teeth remain in the back sprocket. I felt very bad about BTM Layout service agents. These agents & supervisors are absolutely useless. I have complained their manager he don't know him self what action to be taken & what can be done further. All i want say is i am very much disappointed about Royal Enfield Spare ports poor quality & the way service people delivery's their work is worst.

Bought my classic 350 eight months back and done 9500 kms.. Just went for my first long drive 400 kms.. On reaching 300 kms, heard sounds from my chain sprocket in the middle of NH. Thats when i noticed my chain was completely loostened and almost 75% of the teeths are broken. Thank God I notice at that point. Seemed like it was about to break and I noticed luckily as i went on speeds greater than 80.. Had to abandon my bike in the next town and ride as a pillion the rest of the trip and returned back in a speed less than 50 kms for almost 350 kms.. That has ruined my first ever riding experience and of the other riders, There were other low end bikes which rode just fine.. There were even humiliation for spending more money on something this faulty. I'm no more a proud owner of a royal enfield. Came back and googled just to see a hell lot o[censored]sers complained on the same issue, but still not being cared or responded by Royal Enfield. We are putting our life at stake for adventure trusting this brand and RE has just let me down.. Thinking of selling this bike now somehow.. I no longer can trust this one.

thts true...i have changed my sprocket kit on 8500 km

I am using STD 350 model, after riding 13000 kms, my bikes chaind sprocket teeths are broken... bad quality parts from RE..really sad... also Carburetor have leaks, overflow petrol comes through nozzle tube..

I am residing in Mumbai and had Purchase Royal Enfield Classic 350 (Ash Colour) in June 2015.
The bike was in perfect condition in the initial 6 to 7 months. I had no problem with the bike.
But after that, the bike started giving problems. The gears used to automatically change while riding. I got it serviced regularly to rectify that.
While returning back from office on Friday, the chain of the bike all of a sudden broke away in the middle of the highway (This could have led to a serious accident, But by gods grace nothing happened as there was less traffic). On inspecting, i found out that the Sprocket of the chain has been completely torn. The teeths of the Sprocket have chipped away.
I am astonished to see that the quality of Royal Enfield Bikes have degraded to such a low level that the parts worn out only after a year.
To top it all. I had given the bike for servicing on 29th September, 2016. No one from the service centre also notice this. Hence i also have a doubt on your service centres.
I was using Honda Unicorn prior to this and never faced such an issue during 7 years of its usage. But, Royal Enfield Bike is giving me lots of issues.
I spoke to the regional manager regarding this issue. He is also giving lame excuses that its because of regular wear and tear.

I ride only 10000km on my royal enfield classic 350 and now about 10 teeths of sprocket are broken...very low quality products are providing the very branded and big brand royal enfield...totally unsatisfied

Friend, I too faced same problem ..Just got call from the service centre saying chain sprocket has some broken teeth .I Bought RE Classic 350 just 9 months back in Feb'16 and it has travelled around 9K kms. I naver expected kind poor parts quality from the brand like RE Even maintaining Bike is too expensive.

I bought 'Royal Enfield classic 350 in April, 2016, and completed only 14000 klm. And my chain sprocket teeths are broken. This is very very poor quality item in Classic 350.

I have ridden classic 350 for around 46, 000 km without changing chain and sprocket. It lasts beyond that. Where you fail is in taking care of sprocket and chain. Clean and lubricate properly in small intervals of time especially when the chain gets wet. Yes, you may have to spend more than the price of chain and sprocket to maintain it. But the point is that its not about the cost of chain sprocket but the circumstances it fails or get broke down.
I do very long rides. So, my concern is not to spend lesser maintenance amount than a fresh sprocket but to avoid the sprocket getting damaged in the midst of rides.
Believe me it will last so much with proper maintenance and riding behaviors.
1) Never shorten the length of chain even if your mechanic would love to do that.
2)Check for proper chan tension. If you are not sure about the apt chain tension, ask an RE mechanic how tight it should be. He will show you.
3) LUBRICATE THE CHAIN. Lube the chain every 300-400 km run and clean the chain before lubing in alternate lubing cycles. This is very important.
4) Learn the proper gear ratio speeds to be followed on your motocycles. This is explained in your manual and is very important in the case of chain durability,
5)Take intensive care when its monsoon as the lube may get washed away soon.

It will last much more.
My second chain and sprocket set has run 8, 000 kms and still doing very well and am sure will last like the previous set, =.

Hello, iam also facing same problem. In 18000km 7teeths are broken then I replaced by new one hole set ... Only I have driven 2000 km only it's means 20000 km only my new set in that also now 5 teeth are broken seriously so cheap quality they make ... I proud that Royal Enfield is good company but now it's waste of money to buy this bike in market u will find in low cost and extra life giving bikes are there iam so disappointed ... For this royal Enfield classic 350...

Same opinion about chain sprocket. Almost all the teeth of back sprocket were broken with in 12000 km of my standard 350 UCE, . why such a poor quality parts uses in this bullet. Really very poor quality parts.

i am using classic 350, i used 10000 KM only. But my chain sprocket teeth are totally damaged, one by one. R E not being promising but why they using worthless spare parts. Also oil leakage problem.

I am also facing the same problem just bought it 1and a half year back and teeth of sprocket is gone.And i am getting sound while riding. Can i know the price for its repalcement?? please.

RE Third class brand... They have made all o[censored]s down the expectation. I was thinking RE would be the best Brand with long life bikes, but it isn't covering 1% also what I thought about RE Classic 350.
Bushtit spare parts and double [censored] services.
Go for HONDA far even better.

Not only chain set, I met some other problem also. My chain set is gone, second my clutch wire broken down two times while riding, thirdly bubbling in tank paint, worsen spate parts of royal Enfield. Plz go for hero or bajaj. Not for Enfield.

I think Royal Enfield should improve on the quality of the spare part. I have also faced the same problem 3 times till date.
