RSRTC — theft of luggage

Sir,

1. My son varun chaudhary travelled in rsrtc bus no. Rj 14 pd 7396 (Delux depot) from jaipur and boarded the bus at around 9.25 pm on 26 dec 2017 and reached lucknow at around 9.30 am on 27 dec 2017. While boarding the said bus he handed over his brand new blue colour american tourister suitcase (67 cms) to the bus staff sh. Babu lal (Contact numbers:[protected] and [protected]) who marked the seat number 21 on the suitcase and kept it in the luggage compartment.

2. On reaching lucknow on 27 dec 2017 when my son went to fetch his suitcase from the bus staff sh. Shankar lal gurjar who was later handling the luggage failed to produce the said suitcase. The suitcase contained: passport, pan card, driving license, echs card (Defence), class 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates, 1st to 4th semester b. Tech college mark sheets, expensive clothing, speaker, spectacles, elect extension and cash rs.3500/-.

3. I have also lodged the grievance in rajasthan sampark website but on grievance status, it reflects that there is no record of the grievance.

4. I sincerely request to kindly investigate the matter at your end as the suitcase has been lost due to either sheer negligence or intended theft by the bus staff as it was a brand new suitcase and students during vacation generally carry expensive belongings. Moreover, since it was a volvo bus the luggage compartment can only be opened when the bus door is also open because of the interlocking system of the bus. Therefore, the locking system is controlled by the bus staff and for the theft to occur the bus would have to be stationary to open the door making it very difficult for the staff not to notice the ongoing theft. Though an fir has been lodged against the bus staff i intend to withdraw the fir in case the stolen luggage is recovered and handed over.
